It's already the 11th day of the year and i was quite busy. So sorry that i wasn't unable to update this blog at the start of this year, and for faithful readers, thanks for your patience!

Blog Devotion: Just trust God!

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

At times when we are facing difficult situations in our lives, and we are at a lost on what to do, God says that we should trust Him. We all know what trusting God is all about, but taking that action to commit everything to God looks hard initially. What most people tend to do is that they become frustrated, worry and complain about how to resolve the problem. And then they would rush to take things in their own hands instead of seeking God, and ironically , they later blame God for the bad outcome.

But when we know who our God is – a faithful, unchanging one who knows what’s best for us, and one who loves and cares for us so much, we will literally trust God by letting Him take charge of our circumstances in life. Let’s not make our own decisions but instead seek God for His guidance, because God’s ways are higher than ours. When we allow God to come into the picture, things do change for the better. When we surrender this burden or trouble to God, acknowledging and believing that He will take care of the situation without a shadow of doubt, His inner peace which surpasses all understanding will be present in us. And the things in our lives will be straighten once again.

Be it in studies, in friendships, in schools and our workplace, when we take that bold step to trust God and follow His ways, we’ll be amazed at His work, where He’ll make things right again.

So let this year be one where we take that step to trust God more and more, depending on Him because God knows the best for us!

Prayers

maf party
with the maf party coming up this week (in fact in 1 day's time), let's pray that everything will go well (the food, the DVD, the invitees) and let God take charge of the situation. Hope you have already invited friends to the parties held at various homes, and yeh, just trust and believe that God will do a work in their hearts.

christmas musical 08 - the greatest gift
continue to pray for the production team as they work hard and prepare for this musical. it has been tiring for them and do encourage and pray for the cast and team during this period of time.

also, for those being invited to watch this musical, let's keep on praying for them, believing God will speak to them through this musical .

In all, let's remember to have God in the focus of such events and it shall not be done in our own strength but ultimately, we shall entrust everything unto the Lord for it says in Psalms 127:1 - "Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. "

Blog Devotion: Compelled by His love to do His work

Take an ideal situation here – a car is approaching real fast, and it’s gonna hit your loved one. What would you do- run fast to save your loved one or do nothing? Similarly, if your loved one is unsaved, would you reach out to your loved one with the good news, fulfilling the Great Commission (Matt 28:19-20) or do nothing?

When we are compelled by God’s love, and had experienced His mercy and faithfulness in our lives, knowing that we have eternity in heaven, wouldn’t we love God (and His creation) by sharing the good news with our loved ones? If we know the heart of God who yearns to see everyone enter His kingdom, wouldn’t we care less on how others view us and take a step in reaching out to them?

Just last week, I attended a special meeting featuring 25 year old Nick Vujicic, a man born without hands and legs. Yet, filled with the love of God, he says that he rather preach the good news and see souls saved than praying to have hands and legs. Why is this so? Because he had experienced this love of God and as He’s compelled by this love, he has this passion of sharing this good news, which is more important that attaining hands and legs. What about us ? What excuse could we give God not to reach out to our loved ones?

So how do we do it?
As shared during last week’s carecell, we need to build up our relationships with our loved ones so as to reach out to them. More so, we need to have His guidance as we are led by the Spirit (Zec 4:6) and pray for divine opportunities and openness of the people, believing that they will accept Christ one day. The Holy Spirit that resides in us, will prompt and reveal to us the ways we can approach our loved ones as well as remove our fears.

May this be something that both you and I look, think and pray about. Even if we don’t get fruitful results soon, may we not give up but press in, trusting that God will do the work. Furthermore, let’s pray for one another as we step out and reach out to others.

Blog Devotion: Radi8ting the light

5-6 Remember, our Message is not about ourselves; we're proclaiming Jesus Christ, the Master. All we are is messengers, errand runners from Jesus for you. It started when God said, "Light up the darkness!" and our lives filled up with light as we saw and understood God in the face of Christ, all bright and beautiful
- 2 Corinthians 4:5-6 (The Message)

Over the past few weeks, the messages in our church focused on prayer and reaching out to our unsaved loved ones - be it family, friends etc. As I was thinking about this, it just came across to my mind how important the name of our youth group Radi8 and our identity as Radi8tors are. It is so appropriate in this context that we should reflect the meaning of being a Radi8tor. To be an effective Radi8tor is not just merely calling ourselves Radi8tors, but radiating the light of Christ through our actions in life
(and also sharing the good news with others)

The light
What is unique about this light in us is that it represents one of hope, one of love (that of God’s agape love) – which is all bright and beautiful! The light that we radiate in our lives is reflected in our actions in life. When others see our actions showing this light in us, the darkness that had made their lives miserable can now be lighted up! Their hearts will be warm and filled with joy, comfort and the love of God!

Making an effort to be the light
It takes an effort on our part to radiate our light – to be a messenger in reaching out to our loved ones. So let us be effective Radi8tors by stepping out of our comfort zones, taking the first step to pray, asking God to direct and lead us on whom we should invite for the MAF party.

As for the weeks ahead during cell group sessions, let us be open and eager to learn how to approach our friends and invite them over for the party, and being the Radi8tor that God wants us to be!

Blog Devotion : Gather in the crops

In line with ‘My Hope, Singapore’ project, I would like to share with you a little reflection passage :)

You stand before God with sweaty palms and a racing heart. He's asking you only one question: Do you know and have you accepted My Son? You reply confidently: Yes. Finally, He has granted you entry into heaven. As you are about to enter the golden gates, your friend at school -- whom you've known for quite sometime -- quickly yells something at you. You know that person isn't a Christian and a deep sorrow sweeps over you as you remember how you tried to just get enough courage to speak to him/her about Christ. But, now it is too late. You look into the eyes of this friend you've known and can't help to feel some pity for them. You know what's going to happen. You try to ignore the feeling of guilt and sadness. Besides, you're going to heaven -- why dwell the past? You strain your ears to hear what he/she is trying to say. Finally, you understand. Your friend is asking you one simple question: "Why didn't you tell me?" Isaiah 43:8 -- Lead out those who have eyes but are blind, who have ears but are deaf.

The Bible says in Luke 10:2 "The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few." Why did Jesus say the laborers are few? Because there are too many professing Christians out there that's not doing their job. The harvest is ripe but we certainly do not have enough Christians to gather in the crop. If we are honest with ourselves, sometimes we do not share the gospel with our friends, colleagues or family simply because of fear or rejection. We are afraid of their response to the gospel message. We are afraid of being rejected. Friends, if faith is worth having in our lives, then it is worth sharing to folks that we meet. :)

It’s about time we step out of our comfort zone and gather in the harvest! :)

HI! :D Ps Wilson talked about reaching out to the people around us and touching their lives last Friday. He got us into our groups to talk about the barriers we faced that hindered us from making that step to spread God's Word to our friends. Personally, I thought it was really hard to overcome these barriers and one must be super wangwang to spread His Word.

But I came upon this one article last night , and it really touched my heart, so I wanna share this:

The True Hero of the Titanic

John Harper was born to a pair of solid Christian parents on May 29th, 1872. It was on the last Sunday of March 1886, when he was thirteen years old that he received Jesus as the Lord of his life. He never knew what it was to "sow his wild oats."

He began to preach about four years later at the ripe old age of 17 years by going down to the streets of his village and pouring out his soul in earnest entreaty for men to be reconciled to God. As John Harper's life unfolded, one thing was apparent; he was consumed by the word of God. When asked by various ministers what his doctrine consisted of, he was known to reply "The Word of God!" After five or six years of toiling on street corners preaching the gospel and working in the mill during the day, Harper was taken in by Rev. E. A. Carter of Baptist Pioneer Mission in London, England.

This set Harper free to devote his whole time of energy to the work so dear to his heart. Soon, John Harper started his own church in September of 1896. (Now known as the Harper Memorial Church). This church which John Harper had started with just 25 members, had grown to over 500 members when he left 13 years later.

During this time he had gotten married, but was shortly there after widowed. However brief the marriage, God did bless John Harper with a beautiful little girl named Nana.

Ironically, John Harper almost drowned several times during his life. When he was two and a half years of age, he almost drowned when he fell into a well but was resuscitated by his mother. At the age of twenty-six, he was swept out to sea by a reverse current and barely survived, and at thirty-two he faced death on a leaking ship in the Mediterranean. Perhaps, God used these experiences to prepare this servant for what he faced next..

It was the night of April 14, 1912. The RMS Titanic sailed swiftly on the bitterly cold ocean waters heading unknowingly into the pages of history. On board this luxurious ocean liner were many rich and famous people. At the time of the ship's launch, it was the world's largest man-made moveable object. At 11:40 p.m. on that fateful night, an iceberg scraped the ship's starboard side, showering the decks with ice and ripping open six watertight compartments.

The sea poured in. On board the ship that night was John Harper and his much-beloved six-year-old daughter Nana. According to documented reports, as soon as it was apparent that the ship was going to sink, John Harper immediately took his daughter to a lifeboat. It is reasonable to assume that this widowed preacher could have easily gotten on board this boat to safety; however, it never seems to have crossed his mind.

He bent down and kissed his precious little girl; looking into her eyes he told her that she would see him again someday. The flares going off in the dark sky above reflected the tears on his face as he turned and headed towards the crowd of desperate humanity on the sinking ocean liner. As the rear of the huge ship began to lurch upwards, it was reported that Harper was seen making his way up the deck yelling "Women, children and unsaved into the lifeboats!" It was only minutes later that the Titanic began to rumble deep within.

Most people thought it was an explosion; actually the gargantuan ship was literally breaking in half. At this point, many people jumped off the decks and into the icy, dark waters below. John Harper was one of these people.

That night 1528 people went into the frigid waters. John Harper was seen swimming frantically to people in the water leading them to Jesus before the hypothermia became fatal. Mr. Harper swam up to one young man who had climbed up on a piece of debris. Rev. Harper asked him between breaths, "Are you saved?"

The young man replied that he was not. Harper then tried to lead him to Christ only to have the young man who was near shock, reply no. John Harper then took off his life jacket and threw it to the man and said "Here then, you need this more than I do." and swam away to other people. A few minutes later Harper swam back to the young man and succeeded in leading him to salvation.

Of the 1528 people that went into the water that night, six were rescued by the lifeboats. One of them was this young man on the debris.

Four years later, at a survivors meeting, this young man stood up and in tears recounted how John Harper had led him to Christ. Mr. Harper had tried to swim back to help other people, yet because of the intense cold, had grown too weak to swim. His last words before going under in the frigid waters were "Believe on the Name of the Lord Jesus and you will be saved."

Does Hollywood remember this man? No. Oh well, no matter.

This servant of God did what he had to do. While other people were trying to buy their way onto the lifeboats and selfishly trying to save their own lives, John Harper gave up his life so that others could be saved.

"Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John Harper was truly the hero of the Titanic.

It really made me wonder how hard it is to conjure up the courage to overcome our little fears (of rejection, past hurts etc) and make that effort in trying to spread God's Word to our friends, when someone can push away the pain of leaving his beloved daughter behind, and muster the courage to give up his own life to try save others. Even in his last moments, he was still spreading God's word and he tried TWICE to save a stranger who rejected him in the freezing waters.

As my group leader (ZQ!) said, "God loves us and we have to spread his love to others too!".

So let's muster the courage (with the help of the Holy Spirit) and make that effort to spread the gospel to our loved ones and to our friends!

In our everyday lives, we're involved in some kind of a race... Race to get that degree, race to get that position in the company, race to this and race to that.. So much so that our dreams are centered around these races, around these prizes that is promised as the reward..even Christians are not spared this merciless race..

And we often ask God to rig this race in our favor..when God does not respond, we get all disappointed and all..but what is prayer? Let's take a look at the story below to understand a simple concept behind prayer..

A Boys Race Prayer
My son Gilbert was eight years old and had been in Cub Scouts only ashort time. During one of his meetings he was handed a sheet of paper, a block of wood and four tires and told to return home and give allto 'dad.' That was not an easy task for Gilbert to do. Dad was not receptiveto doing things with his son. But Gilbert tried. Dad read the paper andscoffed at the idea of making a pine wood derby car with his young, eagerson. The block of wood remained untouched as the weeks passed. Finally,mom stepped in to see if I could figure this all out.The project began.... Having no carpentry skills, I decided it would be best if I simply read the directions and let Gilbert do the work. And he did. I read aloud the measurements, the rules of what we could do and what we couldn'tdo. Within days his block of wood was turning into a pinewood derby car.A little lopsided, but looking great (at least through the eyes of mom).Gilbert had not seen any of the other kids' cars and was feeling prettyproud of his 'Blue Lightning,' the pride that comes with knowing you didsomething on your own.Then the big night came. With his blue pinewood derby in his handand pride in his heart we headed to the big race. Once there my little one's pride turned to humility. Gilbert's car was obviously the only carmade entirely on his own. All the other cars were a father-sonpartnership, with cool paint jobs and sleek body styles made for speed.A few of the boys giggled as they looked at Gilbert's, lopsided,wobbly, unattractive vehicle. To add to the humility Gilbert was the onlyboy without a man at his side. A couple of the boys who were from single parent homes at least had an uncle or grandfather by their side,Gilbert had 'mom.'
As the race began it was done in elimination fashion. You kept racing aslong as you were the winner. One by one the cars raced down the finelysanded ramp. Finally it was between Gilbert and the sleekest, fastestlooking car there.As the last race was about to begin, my wide eyed, shy eight year old asked if they could stop the race for a minute, because he wanted topray. The race stopped. Gilbert hit his knees clutching his funnylooking block of wood between his hands. With a wrinkled brow heset to converse with his Heavenly Father. He prayed in earnest for a very longminute and a half. Then he stood, smile on his face and announced, 'Okay,I'm ready.' As the crowd cheered, a boy named Tommy stood with his fatheras their car sped down the ramp. Gilbert stood with his Father within his heart and watched his block of wood wobble down the ramp with surprisinglygreat speed and rushed over the finish line a fraction of a second beforeTommy's car.Gilbert leaped into the air with a loud 'Thank you' as the crowdroared in approval. The Scout Master came up to Gilbert with microphone inhand and asked the obvious question, 'So you prayed to win, huh, Gilbert?'To which my young son answered, 'Oh, no sir. That wouldn't be fair to ask God to help me beat someone else. I just asked Him to make it so I didn't cry if I lost.'
Children seem to have a wisdom far beyond us. Gilbert didn't ask God to win the race, he didn't ask God to fix the out come, Gilbert askedGod to give him strength in the outcome. When Gilbert first saw the othercars he didn't cry out to God, 'No fair, they had a fathers help.' No, hewent to his Father for strength.
Perhaps we spend to much of our prayer time asking God to rig the race, to make us number one, or to much time asking God to remove us fromthe struggle, when we should be seeking God's strength to get through thestruggle.

'I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.'Philippines 4:13

Gilbert's simple prayer spoke volumes to those present that night.He never doubted that God would indeed answer his request. He didn't pray to win, thus hurt someone else; he prayed that God supply the grace to lose with dignity.Gilbert, by his stopping the race to speak to his Father also showedthe crowd that he wasn't there without a 'dad,' but His Father was most definitely there with him. Yes, Gilbert walked away a winner that night, with his Father at his side.

From this , you see that prayer is not just about rigging the race so that you can win..Instead, we should be asking God to help us through whatever struggle we have so as to overcome the problems, it's not about winning... What we can gain most from the race is to know that God is there for us and He will always be there!

Hi...Justwanted to share with you'all a story that inspired me from the secret of Jimmy Yen

The Secret of Jimmy Yen

A JURY OF DISTINGUISHED scholars and scientists,
including Albert Einstein and Orville Wright thought enough of Jimmy Yen to vote him one of the top ten Modern Revolutionaries of theTwentieth Century. Yet all he did was teach Chinese peasantsto read.

What made that so amazing was that for four thousand years reading and writing in China was only done by the Scholars.'Everybody' knew, including the peasants themselves, thatpeasants were incapable of learning.

That thoroughly ingrained cultural belief was Jimmy Yen's first'impossible' barrier. The second barrier was the Chineselanguage itself, consisting of 40,000 characters, eachcharacter signifying a different word! The third barrier was thelack of technology and good roads. How could Jimmy Yen reach the 350 million peasants in China?

Impossible odds, an impossibly huge goal-and yet he had almost attained it when he was forced (by Communism) toleave his country.

Did he give up? No. He learned from defeat and expanded hisgoal: Teach the rest of the Third World to read. Practicalreading programmes, like the ones
he invented in China, started pumping out literate people like a gushing oil well in the Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Kenya,Columbia,Guatemala, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Ghana, India people became literate. For the first time in their entire genetic history, they had access to the accumulated knowledge of
the human race.

For those of us who take literacy for granted, I'd like you to consider for a moment how narrow your world would be if you'd never learned how to read and there was no access toradios or TVs.

180,000 Chinese peasants were hired by the Allied Forces in WW1 as laborers in the war effort. Most of them had no idea-not a clue-where England,
Germany or France was, they didn'tknow what they were being hired to do, and didn't even know what a war was! Jimmy Yen was a savior to them.

What was the secret of Jimmy Yen's success? He found a real need, and found in himself a strong desire to answer that need. And he took some action: He tried to do somethingabout it even though it seemed impossible. He worked long hours. And he started with what he had in front of himand gradually took on more
and more, a little upon a little.

Weekly Blog Devotion: A 100%!

Colossians 3:23-24

23Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

It has been a busy week for me, doing routine tasks that deep from the bottom of my heart, I don’t really enjoy doing. It’s tedious, it’s tiring, it’s troublesome – you name it all. The heart’s attitude initially isn’t just right, we grumble it all in our hearts. I remembered in the past, when my mum asked me to wash the dishes, I would just wash the plates grudgingly, turning on the tap at full blast,throwing the plates into the sink there it goes a *ding dang dong dong dong* sound… and this wasn’t a right attitude.

Colossians 3:23 mentions about doing the things that we’ve been assigned (the good things and not the bad things) with all our hearts, and do it unto the Lord. It ain’t easy to do it I gotta admit. Doing it with all your heart means a 100% (not just 20,30,40,50 or 99%) it’s clearly a hundred – a wholehearted attitude. As we have a right attitude towards the things we do (be it studies, work, the 15hour study plan, etc.) and do it all for God, we will be blessed and find this joy and satisfaction in our hearts. We shan’t be doing the things for sake of doing it, but knowing the purpose that by giving our all in the things we do, we are serving the Most High!

Of course, we can’t use our own strength to change our attitudes by ourselves, we definitely need to seek God and ask Him to help us change our attitudes through prayer and effort. A wholehearted commitment and attitude towards the task we do – it will make a great difference and we’ll be glad.
.Besides, people that come into contact with us can see our different attitudes towards our work.

So let’s all learn to live a life where we’ll have a right attitude towards the things in life, giving our 100% in things we do – doing it for Him and Him alone!

Luke 19: 1-9 (Zacchaeus the tax collector)

1 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through.
2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy.
3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd.
4 So he ran ahead and the climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”
6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”
8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”

Zacchaeus could have had a lot of money and power, but he chose to give it all up for God. Zacchaeus repented of all his sins. He knew his mistakes and was willing to admit them and ask for forgiveness. No matter how hard it was, and despite of all the injuries that he would have, he was was determined to climb a tree – he was willing to go that extra mile, not only to take a look at Jesus, but also to receive salvation.

Similarly, Jesus wants each and every one of us to be like Zacchaeus. We have to go the extra mile to pursue and see Him despite all the difficulties that we might face along the way. We need to repent of our sins, and most importantly, accept Jesus not only into our lives, but also into our hearts.

For without God in our lives, we’re as good as nothing:)
So, are you willing to go that extra mile for God? And, would you rather have wealth and power, or God? You decide... :)

As I was listening to this song, the lyrics of this song revealed to me something that I would like to share. This song speaks of each one of us bringing praise and rejoicing in the Lord in every season, no matter what. ‘No matter what’ refers to the situations I’m facing – be it good times, in trials, in pain – whatever I’m facing in life. It can be happy moments where I feel satisfied with my day. Or it can be ‘desert’ situations that are difficult in life, where I feel so alone and feel like giving up, disliking the situation I’m facing. Yet all of my life, even though I don't feel like singing to God, I will still make an effort to bring my praise and adoration to my God, who is worthy of all praise, honour and glory!

It’s definitely not an easy thing to do – to praise His name no matter what.

As school reopens for most of you (except poly students who are still having their holidays...) and for others who are going back to work, army etc. , may we learn to rejoice and bring praise to the living God, be it in ‘desert times’ or in good times, or in whatever situations ( exams , relationships, crisis, hurts etc.) That we will place our trust in God no matter what, standing firm on His promises and declaring His victory, knowing that He will provide for us, that He has the best for us! God is still God; nothing changes about Him, because He alone is good, He alone deserves all our praise for who He is. Also, His love for us will never change and never will, and He is indeed good!

Weekly Blog Devotion: Expect miracles when you believe

Psalms 5:1-3 Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my sighing. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.

Whenever I have a need, a problem or when I’m just simply at a lost, I’ll always call out to God and beg Him to make it all right. And at the end of my prayer, I’ll tell myself God’s gonna answer my prayer. BUT… many times I don’t actually believe a 100% that God will answer my prayer, there will always be that doubt in me. Like how is God gonna give me an ‘A’ now, when my papers have already been marked and my fate sealed? It’s just not logical. Or how is this person’s tumor gonna suddenly go away when it can clearly be seen under an MRI scan? It’s just not scientifically possible. And yet, they do.

I guess that’s when my mom will say it’s all about having faith and trust in the Lord. Crying out to God isn’t going to work if we put logic, science and all that mambo jumbo into our prayers because God’s beyond all that. He is the reason why miracles happen. A miracle, as defined by the dictionary, is a surprising and welcoming event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency. In this case, God would be the big man behind this divine agency. So having faith in God means that we should ignore our rational thoughts and embrace impossibilities because He can make it possible.

Once we can establish our faith and trust in the Lord, we’re that much closer to experiencing miracles and leading a more fulfilling life. The next step would be to expect miracles. Have that child-like faith and confidence that God will make it work. It may not happen overnight, but hey, that’s where our faith will be put to the test and if we follow through, I’m almost certain God will follow through.

Weekly blog devotion : Have you ever feel alone?

In our daily life, we often feel that we are ignored by our friends, neglected by our loved ones. You will often think that you are walking alone in this long and tough journey of life. You might even come to a stage that you don't even love yourself.

Friends, always remember that there is someone up there, who

thinks of you,
cares about you,
wants to talk to you,
hopes that you are not troubled,
wants you to be happy,
thinks that you are precious to him,
wants to protect you,
would be merciful to forgive you,
wants to be your friend,
wants to go into a deeper relationship with you,
wants to shower you with unconditional love no matter who you are.

Now, do you feel a little more loved? Yes. Jesus loves you. Your family and friends also cares for you. DO NOT think that you are alone in this world. There is always someone that you can talk to when you are down, or when you are troubled.

Remember the story of footprints? A man was walking along the beach and as he looked back, he noticed that during the peaks of his life, there is always 2 sets of footprints in the sand. (which showed God's footsteps alongside with him, walking with him.) But he also noticed that during the worst times in his life, there is only 1 set of footprints in the sand. He was disappointed thinking that God had left him during the worst times in his life.

He asked God why there was only a set of footprints in the sand during the worst times in his life, and in this desperate need of God he felt he was walking alone. In all of His mercy answered him, God replied, "Child, in the peaks of your life, I walked with you. But in the worst times of your life, it is me that carried you through."

This story has been my personal "motivation" and encouragement, which always serve as a reminder that God is always by my side. Hebrews 13: 5 says "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

So remember, during the worst times of your life, God is by your side and will carry you through all your storms. Just look to God in prayer, believing that He will help you no matter what.

Weekly Blog Devotion : Love one another !

Love is so important in everyone’s life, including mine. How would you live without a single drop of love? Hmmm…

Love is one of the fruit of the spirit! It doesn’t come alone. It comes with joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness , faithfulness, gentleness and self control (Galatians 5:22-23) . There are four different Greek interpretations of the word ‘love’:
Philos – friendship love
Storge – family love
Eros – sexual love (not used in Bible)
Agape – unmerited, selfless, self-giving love ; it’s the highest form of love.

Wow! In Matthew 22:36-40, it says:
36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Each of us should love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind – which is the first and greatest commandment. And I should love our neighbour as myself? But how can we? In Romans 5:5-8, it says : 5And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. 6You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Man! God poured His love into our hearts through His one and only Son who was given to us. Not only that, He demonstrates His own love and died for us , even when we were still in sin.

So what are we waiting for? If God laid down His life for us, we also ought to lay down our lives for our brethren (John 3:16). We need not show our brethren love by going to such a large extent – such as buying them bungalows or Lamborghinis. We need not buy them lunch everyday and bring them for a spa treatment every Sunday. Simple acts such as moving giving up a seat to an old uncle or pregnant woman in the bus, helping teachers to carry books would do. How about in church? Just message your members whenever you are free. Show that you care and make them feel appreciated would show loads of love in their hearts.

For it is said in Ephesians 4: 15-16, speaking the truth in love may grow up in all things into Him who is the head – Christ – from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, using growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

So beloved, let us love one another for love is of God, and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

1 John 4:7-11
7Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Weekly Blog Devotion: There's a kid in everyone!

When I was a little girl, I used to pray about everthing. If I was climbing on a monkey bar and suddenly realized I couldn't get down, I would pray to God and ask Him to help me get down. If my stomach hurt, I would pray for God's healing. If my pencil was lost, I would ask God to help me find it.

At times, I sat on the swing in the playground and sang God a song to tell Him how much I loved him. Then, I grew up. I still prayed, but it was mostly only for "Big" things. Even though, I didn't sit in the playground and sing any longer, God is faithful and still loved me. I've begun to realize that as we grow up, we need not stop "bothering" God with our little prayers or only praise Him at church.

God never stops wanting to hear from us; in fact He wants to hear from us about every aspect of our lives, because He loves us. I can imagine that He would be sad if we didn't talk to God and lose the child-like faith in Him. We would be starting to carry all our troubles on our own, leading our own agenda in life.

So when we all grow up, we never have to stop being dependant like a child, because we all need to depend on God in our lives no matter what. Like one said- "there's a kid in everyone."

Psalm 145: 1-3 "I will praise your name for ever and ever. Everyday i will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord and worth of praise; his greatness no one can fathom."

Weekly Blog Devotion: Where is Jesus in your life?

Have you ever feel that you need God so much when you face troubles? And yet He seems so insignificant when we’re playing games, having fun and doing our usual stuff.

One day, I didn’t realize that I had a test until my friends told me. I tried to study as much as possible, but soon it was time for the test, so I went into class and panicked; I didn’t know what to do when I sat for the test. I tried all that I could, but still I really didn’t know what to do. It seems that only prayer was the solution and I started to pray. After the test, I realized in my life, I did not only placed God as my first priority in life, I only come to Him whenever I am in need.

God has loved us so much that He gave His son for us so that we will have eternal life(John 3:16). But have we been faithful to God? Have we forgotten what He has done for us in our lives? Where is Jesus in your heart?

I would like to share with you about my dad’s trip to China, where the places he visited were of poor living standards, with people having hard lives. Yet, in order to hear the word of God, some of them had travelled for hours. When my dad was visiting the local church, these people were very excited and were eager to hear the word of God. Desiring and longing more for God, they raised their hands, worshipping and singing unto the Lord with all of their hearts. During the preaching, they would listen attentively and all would respond to the altar call. During the altar call, when my dad walked past them, these people would grab and placed his hand on their heads, requesting for a prayer. An old man who wanted to be filled with the Holy Spirit raised his hand and prayed for a long time. Initially, even though he didn’t receive it, he continued to pray without ceasing, with his hands lifted up for hours. Despite lifting his hands for very long and with my dad asking him to put down his hands, he refused and waited for God to hear and answer his prayer. These people have a desire and longing for Jesus to be in their lives Jesus, they really love God from the bottom of their hearts.

After reading this, let’s reflect by asking ourselves if we have been faithful to God. Do we desire more for God in our daily lives? Where is Jesus in your heart? Like what Derek said during worship two weeks ago, have we placed God under our books, work, study, computers, and friends? Jesus wants to be with you, Jesus wants to talk to you, and Jesus loves you. But the question is: do we want to have this intimate relationship with Him daily? Do we desire for more of Him in our daily life? Just stop and think that no matter what you’re doing, whether is it reading this passage or any other things, let’s put God first in our lives.

So let’s draw close to Jesus and He will draw close to you.

Weekly Blog Devotion: To be able to thank God for EVERYTHING(whether is it good or bad)

One day, as I was going to school, I fell down and injured both my palms. The first thing I wanted to do was to blame God, asking Him why it must happen to me. At that moment I felt checked in my heart.

Pain I could endure and live with. But just somehow I couldn’t get over myself for blaming God once again for my own stupidity and carelessness. How many times have we take God’s multiple blessings for granted (especially His grace and mercy) over time . We tend to oversee His blessings and blame Him when something bad happens.

Psalm 77:11-12 (NLT) : But then I recall all you have done. O LORD; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking of your mighty works.

How many of you can actually can relate to the above two verses? I, for one can’t say that I actually can but am learning to do so. Like David, can you recall the blessing of God upon your life? No matter how small the blessing is, it’s still a blessing from God=D.

In the book Job, Satan tries to challenge God by taking away all of Job possessions; animals, farmhand, sheep, shepherd and children.

Job 1:21 - He said “I came from my mother womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The LORD gave me what I had and the LORD has taken it away praise the name on the Lord!”

Satan gave Job boils from head to toe.
Job 2:9-10 - His wife said to him, “Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die.” But Job replied, “You talk like a foolish woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything Bad?’

We complain and make a big fuss over matters far simpler and of less magnitude than what Job had to go through. And at times, we get angry and frustrated over such small problems that can be easily rectified over time. Try to feel what Job had to go through!! And compare it with your own life.

For this week just try to thank God for everything He has/had done for you – either good or bad, small or big and ask God to help you learn not to complain =D. Remember that God is there for us always and He cares for you no matter what you go through, He will pick u up even when u fall.... so just continue to thank God and appreciate Him for the things He has done for your life

Can you ever be like Job? Ponder on this too =D

Weekly Blog Devotion: What drives your life?

John 15:16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit -fruit that shall last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.”

What drives your life?

I think this is a question that we should ask ourselves every day. It poses as a reminder of our purpose here on this earth.

Everybody’s life is driven by something. Drive means to guide, to control or to direct. There are many circumstances and emotions that drive your life, but here are the five most common ones:

1) Many people are driven by guilt
Many spend their lives trying to hide their shame and their past. These people often allow their past to control their future. They unconsciously punish themselves by ‘sabotaging’ their own success. Though we are products of the past, we don’t have to be prisoners of the future. God’s purpose for you is not limited by your past. If He can turn a coward named Gideon (the one in the Bible) into a hero, He can do amazing things in your life too.

2) Many people are driven by resentment and anger
These people hold on to hurts and never get over them. Instead of releasing their painful hurts through forgiveness, they rehearse it over and over in their minds. Some will ‘clam up’, others will ‘blow up’. Basically resentment is very unhealthy - so let go of your past and look into the future. Think positive. Also, your past is the past, those who have hurt you in the past can’t continue to hurt you now unless you continue to hold on to the pain through resentment. So release the pain and choose to forgive.

3) Many people are driven by fear
Their fears may be due to a previous traumatic and unforgettable experience or growing up in a tightly-controlled environment. These people often miss out on great opportunities because they are afraid to venture out. Fear is a self-intend prison that will keep you from what God intends for you to be. You must stand firm and fight against the devil’s lies. Know that God is Your deliverer and stronghold. In Him there shall be no fear because God is with us all the time.

4) Many people are driven by materialism
Very often, the desire to acquire the worldly things becomes their main goal in life. The drive to want more is based on a misconception that having more will make me happy. But the fact is that earthly possessions only provide temporary happiness while having Jesus as you Lord and Saviour is the one and only thing that can make you truly happy. Real security can also be found in your relationship with God. This is the thing that can never ever be taken away from you.

5) Many people are driven by the need for approval
Due to the growing amount of stress and pressure, people often allow the expectations of parents, spouses, children, employers, teachers, friends etc. to control their lives. Being controlled by others hinders you from knowing and having God’s plan and purpose for your life. Never let others control you, it only leads to failure.

Let God take control and be the one driving your life because in Him alone, we will find satisfaction in Him , we will know His plan and purpose for our lives – that we should go and bear fruit – fruit that will last.

Weekly Blog Devotion : Let's put our trust in Him!

HELLOO!

A question for all of you who reads this to think about... "How many of you would actually trust God like how Noah did?"

Genesis 6: 11-22
11 Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. 14 So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. 15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. 16 Make a roof for it and finish the ark to within 18 inches of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. 17 I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons' wives with you. 19 You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. 20 Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. 21 You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them."
22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.

But the key point of this passage is in … verse 22...
"Noah did everything just as God commanded him."

Well, here we can see that Noah was obedient to God, and also, Noah trusted God enough to do whatever God had told Him. He trusted God for something he didn't know that he was about to do - he built an ark. Noah built the ark when God told him to. He didn't know and I’m sure he didn't think he was able to do it, because, imagine if one day , God suddenly ask you to build an ark. =) As for me, iI initially don't think I'll be able to trust God so much as Noah if He were to tell me to do something I'd never think I am able to do.

Not only was it mentioned in verse 22,. BUt also in...Genesis 7:5
"And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him."

As written in the Bible, Noah did not complain at all but did all God told him to do. Despite his age, Noah still did and trusted the Lord to get him through the flood. He got all the animals into the ark which he built.

Even when people laughed and mocked him, that didn't stop Noah from trusting the Lord and doing the work of God! In the same way, we as Christians, no matter how bad our circumstances are, no matter how many people may mock at us or laugh at us for choosing God, we should still continue to trust in Him to bring us through it.

So don't let your circumstances and people’s laughter and mockery affect the way you trust God.

Instead, let's put our trust in Him no matter what happens, because ultimately in the end, He'll bring you through it! :D

Weekly Blog Devotion : More than many sparrows

“Who do you think you are..?”

Matthew 10:29-31

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

I’ll not elaborate on this passage; I guess its clear enough for us to understand. Here is my two cents worth:

How many times have we looked down on ourselves? How many times have we said “Aiya, I’m nothing la, I can’t do anything…”? I’m guilty of that too! But His word cannot be any clearer than this… WE ARE WORTH MORE THAN MANY SPARROWS!

If you think that God has probably forgotten about you and left you hanging at where you are, think again! He did not even let any of the sparrows fall to ground. UNLESS its part of the plan, will He abandon you and let you fall? =) I am sure it never will be part of His plan to bring you down because He said in His word in Jeremiah 29:11. A word of encouragement will just be…

“In whatever situation you are in, be it school, relationship or whatever; just keep in mind that it is for the bigger picture - To mould you into whom God wants you to be!” =)

Weekly Blog Devotion

“A person is a person, no matter how small he is…”

Matured Youth (Talking about paradox…?) HAHA!

1 Timothy 4:12, 14
12 Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. 14 Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecy spoken over you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you.

Basically, Paul was instructing Timothy on what to do and what not to before he reaches. Paul particularly reminded Timothy not to let anyone think any lesser of him just because he is young in age! This shows us one thing - that although Timothy may be young in age, BUT he is matured in doing the works of God! That is why Paul instructed Timothy that he should set an example to all the believers in church in his speech, his life, his love, faith and purity. Going on to verse 14, Paul reminded Timothy NOT to neglect the spiritual gift that he received through the prophecy spoken over him. We do not know what spiritual gifts Timothy has, but we can figure that it is Timothy's Spirit-given abilities for ministry. There is a personal responsibility to every gift that one individual has. The gift does not operate independently but finds its release into the church and into the lives of other people through the obedient Christian's decision to serve. And failure to use one's gifts does not affect just the individual only; the ministry of the church as a whole depends on the responsible use of each believer's gift.

I believe with all of my heart that we are called for a purpose! We can be young in age, but who says we cannot do GREAT exploits in the Kingdom of God? Many times we allow others to think less of us just because we are young. Worst still, we ourselves think that we are young so we think we can wait till we are older! I think in God’s Kingdom, He didn’t call us with the criteria of age. God didn’t say “you have to be at least XX age then you can do great exploits for Me” But He handpicked every single one of us for a greater purpose that we can never comprehend! Like Amy said it before, “He doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called”. And the called is YOU! =) Don’t let age be a hindrance to what He has for you!

Each of us has spiritual gifts. We may not be like Timothy who got his calling through prophecy but we DEFINITELY have at least one gift given by God! (for some of us, we have more than one gift!) God didn’t give us gifts to hang it around in church but for us to use it for His Kingdom! If we do not operate our gifting then it will not only affect us but also the ministry of the church as a whole. We all have a responsibility to fulfill and let’s get REAL here! If we don’t have to use our gifting then why in the first place God gave us the gifts? =) So I urge everyone to discover your gifting and use it for Him and not somewhere else!

POST CAMP ECHO

I trust that you guys who were present at yesterday's service had an awesome time! Well, during the group discussions, i guess you all shared on how God had touched you during the camp , as well as how you have allowed God to do a deeper work in your life. Even for those who couldn't make it to the camp and were present, i trust that you have benefited from the discussion.

So we are all on a 'high' now - or more specifically the level of wangwangness is high. Let this whole experience not just be a temporal experience. Instead, in our daily walk and relationship with God, let's continue to pursue the fire of God in our lives and not let it burn out ; let us live a life where God comes first ; let's get REAL in reality !

And in order to keep this passion for God growing, we got to make a conscious effort and be committed to God. Besides, we need to spur one another through encouragement and prayer i.e. pray for your fellow carecell group mates, to mature and grow in the Lord.

Hope you guys have a wonderful week ahead!

Weekly Blog Devotion: Get R.E.A.L in reality!

I trust everyone had a great time at camp. I really thank God for the move of His spirit during the 4 days.

Camp was great but we all have to face reality and this is where what we have learnt is tried and tested.

We have to safeguard this work that God has begun in us because it would be totally useless if we go back to life as per normal even after receiving this touch from the Lord.

So, how do we do this?

Firstly we have to realize that there is an enemy the devil, and that he is constantly working against God and us. His ultimate goal is to pull people away from God into hell and that includes you and me.

His main tool is deception and in order not to be deceived by the lies that are thrown at us everyday, we as Christians need to saturate ourselves with the truth- The Word of God.

Situations and circumstances will arise to discourage us and make us quit this Christian walk. However, Jesus has shown us as a living example of how we can overcome the world.

‘These things I have spoken to you that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.’
John 16:33

Secondly, we need to saturate ourselves with the company of Christians. We have to unite ourselves as a body of Christ within Radi8 and have learned to provide each other with emotional support, becoming ‘Barnabases’ to one another. We may have differences but let’s apply what Paul has said in the bible:-

‘Therefore as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies , kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering: bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you must also do.’
Colossians 3:12-13

God has done a great work in our lives during this Get R.E.A.L Camp 2008. He can do so much more if we allow Him to. Let this year’s camp be the starting point for the many more miracles that God will do in our lives. Let’s live our lives so that the world will see Christ in us.

Let’s get R.E.A.L in reality!

Congratulations!
Look at all the smiling faces above ! Congratulations to the beloved couple for their recent 'marriage' on 10 June 2008. Well, we all attended the wedding lunch , and it was a great time having fun here. The 'couple' wish to thank all of you for your presence! Well, may God bless them!

Okies let's cut the fakeness above and GET REAL here ! In case you dunno, it was a deliberate fake act of Franky and Shu Ai taking 'wedding pics' at every table when we stopover for lunch along the way to Port Dickson.

About the camp -
well all of us felt the move of God and His anointing in this camp! It was a really refreshing , away from all the busyness of our lives. And Ps Julie was a great camp speaker ... really an anointed woman of God. The altar calls dealt with our hearts deeply... as we learn to break the walls that hinder us from allowing Him to fulfil His destiny for each and everyone of us. it was a great and awesome time to be under the ministry of Ps Julie and her assistants. Like what Ps Wilson said, this is the beginning and i believe we gotta get REAL, be REAL, and live REAL for GOD! Let's live a life that's never the same again!

But hold on for a moment. Photos of the camp are to be uploaded only after camp echo. And remember to come for this Fri's camp echo - where you all will be reminded of how God move during the camp and how He will continue to move in your lives! I'm sure you guys don't wanna miss it!

P.S. Anyway all glory goes to God for making this year's youth camp possible and great! And kudos to all those who have worked hard to put this camp together - the camp committee.

Weekly Blog Devotion : To Really Get Real!

Preparation. This word just came into my mind as I was asking God what I should write in this week’s devotion. The youth camp is just only a few days away. Well, no doubt everyone is excited for camps, because it’s a retreat - away from all the busy schedules and we can relax and chill – a really essential break. However, we need to prepare ourselves wangwangly (spiritually). Very wangwang indeed but I guess it’s really true and it’s really an important element.

We can’t just ‘chiong-in’ like that to a youth camp if we ain’t spiritually prepared in our hearts. We will not be able to give our utmost best to God and will hinder God to do the work that He wants to do in each of us.

To really prepare ourselves in getting real is a heart issue here! Before we can receive the blessing and anointing from God, we must first set our hearts right with God even before the camp. We must know that we have to take off the mask that covers our real identity; the mask that covers the many sinful things that hinders us from God. We need to humble ourselves before God to strip away all these hindrances. We must consecrate ourselves before going for the camp and know our main objective in this camp.

Consecration allows God to conform us to His image and stir our hearts so that we can GET REAL! With consecration, we can become receptive to the word of God and nothing will block us from allowing God to do the work in our lives. As we self-reflect and check our hearts, we will be truthful to God because He searches our heart. If we really choose to know God more during this camp and allow Him to do a deeper work in You, God is faithful and He will grant you the desires of your heart.

Let this camp not be a one-time experience, let it be the beginning of a greater change in our lives , a step closer to God, where we will know His plan for our lives - the life that He wants us to live. Our lives will never be the same again – we will really GET REAL! with God!

Below are some prayer pointers that I’ve come up with for the upcoming youth camp (Feel free to add more pointers on your own )

Pray for God’s power and anointing to be so strong that it will stir our hearts causing a breakthrough in our life like never before.
To really live a life that God wants us to live – TO GET REAL!

> To conform to the image of Christ!
> Not just receive blessings but to be more fervent for God and to grow and mature in the Lord
> This camp will not remain history; it will become a living experience for each Radi8tor!

Pray for the camp speaker – that she’ll be so sensitive to the move of God here in this camp and know what God wants to do.
Pray for Huimin and her committee that they will tap into God's strength when conducting the activities, and that they will commit their activities unto the Lord.
Pray for the smooth running of the programmes – be it worship , games , group discussions etc.
Pray for the protection of God upon each and every one of us that’s going
Pray for Group ICs that God will guide them in leading the group.

And for those who are not able to make it for this camp (for whatever reasons) , pray that God will bless them too in His own special way.

The Get REAL! Youth Camp is really approaching fast – 7 DAYS away -exactly one week ! Wow it’s just so fast man! So let’s hear from Huimin who is overall in charge to get a snippet of what’s up for you guys in this camp! nat:)

+ : What’s this year’s camp theme all about?
God desires us to grow in conformity to Christ-likeness but often, we are pressured to compromise our standards to this world which doesn’t reflect the REAL you. Thus this camp aims to focus on issues that shape us to ‘be real’ before God and deal with real issues, such as knowing our identity as well as our focus in life. The acronym “R.E.A.L.” = Realise. Equip. Arise. Lean – these are key words that will have profound impact on us as disciples of Christ.

+ : How hyped up is your committee in executing this year’s camp?
The design team is always feeling ‘HIGH’ during planning!! ‘High’ on my ATAS caramelized biscuits, ‘High’ on planning the games & stuff and of coz ‘High’ on God-inspired ideas. We have witnessed the hand of God guiding us - since His confirmation of our Theme and His provision, guiding every step of the way. Every process such as the planning of programmes to the production of our very own publicity Manga are like dozes of adrenaline shot that excites & spur us on!

+ : In comparison to last year, how do you think this year’s camp is going to be different?
This year’s camp is different in terms of its emphasis, programme content & games! Eh you can ask the team how many drafts & brainstorming sessions we had over the past few months. Every camp should be different and will be different because our God is a creative God. He moves and inspires people differently. J Another thing that's different this year is that we have a mini Radi8 cafe for hungry campers who need supper.

+ : Could you give us a brief outlook on what the campers are going to expect? [The programmes etc. ]
Freedom!! How many times do we get the opportunity to travel so far away from our parents?! Haha. I’m kidding! We have a schedule to follow... So it’s not total freedom!

Placing strong emphasis on our theme, we have prepared daily devotions and group discussions on Realizing our identity; Equipping in God’s Word; Arising in Ministry; & Leaning on the Holy Spirit. This year’s games are also designed in line with our camp theme! Hmm… you might be thinking what can we play based on R.E.A.L?? You will find out on Day 2! And not forgetting our special night games!! I shall not disclose any further. Deng deng deng… Suspense!! Heehee.

+ : More importantly, in the wang-wang [spiritual] aspect, how do you think this camp is going to be a breakthrough in the lives of the campers?

“We are so concerned with what others think and say about us. We question why we are the way we are and wish we could be someone else. Some even let the expectations of others dictate who we’ve become. We try to act a certain way to be accepted but know that we’re being untrue.”

In this camp, we pray that we will learn to:
1) To live as non-compromising Christians everyday (being comfortable in your own skin) and lean on God to enable us to live for Him;
2) To really know our true selves and not give so much attention to other peoples’ lives. Instead we should live more in tune with the life God wants for us;
3) To be free to use our unique, God-given gifts.(Believe you are who God says you are)

+ : How do you feel this camp is gonna impact the campers lives after the camp ?
I ask myself that same question too! Of course we trust & anticipate God’s transforming work during the camp but transformation doesn’t come through just a wonderful experience. It takes diligence, consistency and of course the power of the Holy Spirit to remind & transform us to whom He wants us to be. The real test of whether we’ll experience significant life change is when we look at our lifestyle one week, one month or a year from today. Have we been able to act on the word that God has spoken to us during the camp? Have we practice being R.E.A.L.? Are we able to do His Word rather than just hear it, only? Sooo… The reality of a changed life is – you choose; you decide.

Weekly Blog Devotion : God speaks

So how does a loving and just God speak to man, when sinners and saints alike are listening? His words fall upon a mixed audience, whose sins and needs are as different as night and day. His words of grace and mercy fall upon the repentant who are desperate to be set free, but also upon the arrogant who still love their sin. And His words of conviction, meant to shatter the heart of stone, fall rightly upon the guilty, but also upon those already tormented by guilt, the downtrodden whose hearts are already crushed.

So how does a merciful and just God speak to such a wide split group? In judgment, and in mercy. With conviction, and with compassion. With clear revelation, and with mysteries, veiled parables that can only be understood by those to whom the Father chooses to reveal them. His deepest mysteries are not going to be solved by the smartest, but by mere babes, as Jesus declares, because God chooses who He wants to reveal His word to. It’s a matter of the heart. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." (Matthew 5:8)

So, how much more we as Christians must be receptive to what God has to say and apply that word into our life and into the lives of those around us. To see the many mysteries that God is telling us, we have to be pure in heart and seek after God earnestly.

it just reminded me that God is in control of everything, and He's there for us. He heals us not only in the physical aspect but also in the emotional aspect. So many a times, we know that God is there for us but still we doubt Him. The bridge spoke to me alot - that really nothing is impossible for God. If only can we put our trust in God and surrender ourselves to Him, believing that He knows the best for us. God will heal us and give us the victory not only in times of sickness but also in times of crisis and at a lost state. God is more than enough for us; and He's all that we really need. Nothing else but He alone.

Weekly Blog Devotion: GOD LISTENS

James 5:13-18

13Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.
14Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.
16Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. 17Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
18Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. 19My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back...

We all live in a very very loud world. Frankly, in order to get someone's attention is not a very easy thing that can be done. Many a time, we turn to the people around us - our friends and parents rather than looking to God and telling Him about our problems or anxieties.

But here's the thing, you can talk to God about almost anything and He still listens, because you matter to Him. You do not need to worry that you stutter or stammer because the truth is that even when our words impresses no one, God being our loving Father is impressed by our prayers and ultimately He listens to us! As James has already written, if you're in trouble you should pray and if you're happy you should sing songs of praises to God.

We have a loving Father and a God who listens, who can we ask for more? I pray that everyone of you Radi8tors will come to see the importance of prayer, although we might not understand the mystery of prayer – but there is one thing that is very very clear - when we start to pray, signs and wonders in heaven begin!

Weekly Blog Devotion :Empty Promises

' Lord, why can't i follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.' - John 13:37
'Then Jesus answered. 'will you really lay down your life for me? I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.'- John 13:38

How many of us actually keep to our promises? I believe that majority of us usually forget the promises that we make to others.

Likewise, we often make empty promises unto the Lord, don’t we? For many people, promises are usually made unto the Lord, when we hope that something will be done, and that the promise is something we do in return. Just like a business deal, we make promises in the hope of 'clinching the deal' with God. BUT! Are we really capable of fulfilling the promises that we make, or are we just making promises as a form of 'trade' with God?

When Peter said to Jesus, 'Lord, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.', Jesus already knew that Peter was making an empty promise, and thus, Jesus questions him, 'Will you really lay down your life for me?' and have already predicted that Peter will disown him three times. And true enough, in Luke 22:56-60, it says :

56 A servant girl saw him seated there in the firelight. she looked closely at him and said, 'This man was with him.'
57 But he denied it.' Woman, I don’t know him.'- (Peter denying Jesus for the first time.)
58 A little later someone else saw him and said,' you also are one of them.'
Man, I am not.' Peter replied. -(Peter denying Jesus for the second time.)
59 About an hour later another asserted, 'Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean.'
60 Peter replied, 'Man, I don’t know what you're talking about!' - (Peter denying Jesus for the third time.)

Peter indeed made empty promises unto the Lord, like how Jesus predicted it previously.

So we really have to mean what we promise, because God knows each of our hearts well. If we choose to walk right with God, we don’t have to take our own step to make vows unto the Lord to obtain His favour. By our own limited strength, we would not be able to fulfill our promise.

With a relationship with God, and through His unconditional love and mercy, He is willing to give us anything that is good for us . For the Lord says , ' And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father, You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.' -John 14:13-14

Once again, God knows whenever we make an empty promise. He knows the intents and motives of our heart's desire. So, instead of making promises that we know we'll break, seek Him with a sincere heart, and He'll grant you favour and the desires of your heart!

FOR OUR GOD IS GREAT, AND MERCIFUL! AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, HE LOVES US! :D

Your Weekly Dose of Radi8tion :: Unsatisfied Satisfaction - 09 May 08

Over the past weeks, we have learned on three beatitudes, namely

1. Wealthy Poor
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
2. Joyful Mourners
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted
3. Gentle Giants
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth

Now, we will be looking at the next Beatitude which is called the “Unsatisfied Satisfaction”, which is taken from Matthew 5:6 - “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

Previously, the first three beatitudes emphasize on “What we are” while in this 4th beatitude, it emphasizes on “What we do”.

Jesus was speaking to the people staying in poor living conditions – they ate meat once a week ; most lived close to hunger and starvation ; and because of the desert environment they lived in, water was very precious.

Through this experience, Jesus had in mind the sort of hunger and thirst the people had – without filling or quenching one’s soul, it would ultimately lead to death!

In fact, the Bible indicates to us that we all need the same hunger and thirst for the righteousness of God too –
- Ps 42:1-2 “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for, God, for the living God.”

- Ps 63:1 “O God you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”
- Ps 84:2 “My soul yearns, even faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my fresh cry out for the living God.”

A challenging statement written by a man called Thomas says –
“If you find yourself loving
Any pleasure better than your prayers,
Any book better than the Bible,
Any house better than the house of God,
Any table better than the Lord’s table,
Any person better than Christ,
Any indulgence better than the hope of heaven – TAKE ALARM.”

One of the signs of spiritual sickness in the church is the lack of hunger and thirst for God. There has been a decline in the number of people attending church-related activities, giving excuses that they have other priorities to attend to. Thus, we got to constantly check ourselves on where we set our priorities – is it God or the world?

Hence, what is righteousness? It is the character or quality of being right. Righteousness is an attribute of God which means that all of God’s actions are perfect and upright! In order to be righteous, we ought to have the right and perfect standing before God because we know we cannot be righteous by our own effort.

This is stated in 1 Corinthians 1:30 where we thank God that we who trust Christ are declared by God to be righteous because –
“Christ... has become for us… our righteousness” and as such we’re no more condemned according to Romans 8:1.

It is by the grace of God that we are changed from being sinners to saints and we can now commune with our Saviour Jesus Christ.

As we now look into the latter part of verse 6 saying –“… for they shall be filled.” Take note that this is an invitation to all of us here to live. As we hunger and thirst for God and His righteousness, He will take us on a new dimension of life. Jesus has already affirmed to us through His word that He came to give us life and life more abundantly and thus it is His will that we will live life to the fullest.

Always remember that Jesus is our source of sustenance! In John 6:35 Jesus says He’s the bread and also the fountain of life. If we feast on the bread and drink of that fountain, the promise is that we will never be hungry nor be thirsty again..

There is a good example of Jacob who wrestled with God in Genesis 32:26 that says –“I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

As we come before the Lord, there must be desperation from within our hearts to call unto God to fill us and bless us! As each one of us attempt to hunger and thirst for righteousness, let us not forget the promise of being filled too! Let us be filled to where we will be satisfied, and not desire for the things of this world!

Pursuing God is not something extra but rather, it is a daily exercise that we all need to engage in - In Ephesians 4:24, the Bible says that “we are created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” and 1 Thessalonians 4:3 wrote that “it is God’s will that they should be holy”.

One of the favorite Scripture that we often quote in Matthew 6:33 –
“Seek first God’s Kingdom and His righteousness”Paul told Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:11, “But you… flee from all this, and pursue righteousness”.

Thus, as we all pursue life, the life that we long for is not one that’s of the world even though we all live in this present world. Rather, it is one that is of His righteousness and His kingdom!

People around us will also start to look up to us and with God’s righteousness in us, we will be seen with higher moral standards.

Hence, let us live our lives that glorify His righteousness!

Before ending,l et us ask ourselves the following questions to check if we are hungry and thirsty for the things of God-
1. Am I longing not merely to be good, but to be godly?
2. Do I really want to get rid of my sins – every single one of them?
3. Do I long to be holy in my thoughts as well as in my speech?
4. Do I want to be purified from “everything that contaminates body and spirit” (2 Cor 7:1)?
5. Am I willing to die to my own comforts and ambitions?
6. Am I prepared to put to death everything that belongs to my earthly nature?
7. Am I determined to resist the devil?
8. Do I really want to have done with

Self-pity
Self interest
Self- protection
Self-justification
Self-concern
Self-assertion

9. Do I long for purity of heart?
10. Do I want to see the fruit of the Spirit developing in my life?
11. Do I truly want to be like Christ in his humility, kindness, compassion and love, and in his perfect obedience to God’s law?

May each of us be reminded that as Christians who hunger and thirst for God’s righteousness, it is a continual and never ending process. Hunger for righteousness demands to be satisfied, and satisfaction will increase the hunger.

The more earnestly one pursues holiness, the greater his progress will be; the greater his progress, he would want to progress even further!

As we go through life’s journey, at every stage of transformation, it brings an unsatisfied satisfaction, the longing to be more like Christ in word, thought and deed.

Living Sacrifices

1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
- Romans 12:1-2

To offer our bodies as living sacrifices to God might sound difficult but is it really that difficult to fulfill?

The answer is not too difficult when you have a willing heart to give your all unto the Lord. We are God’s creation; He knows all about us even when we are unborn. He sent His only Son, Jesus to die on the cross so that we can turn away from our sins and be God’s children through accepting Christ Jesus as our Lord.

Imagine if you are a parent and you have a wayward child who always rebel against you. Will you not love your child and hope that your child would turn away from his rebellious ways?

Likewise, our heavenly Father loves us and longs to have a close relationship with us. It is a choice that we have to make everyday whether to offer our lives to God which means we will live according to His will.

How do we live according to God’s will? Devote your time daily to the Lord by praying, studying and meditating on the Word of God etc.

Year in and year out, we commemorate Good Friday by attending church, and after some time, this becomes a ceremony, an obligation or a ritual to do so. People have regarded this time as Holy Week; and they have the knowledge that Good Friday is remembering about God’s love on the cross that washes away all our sins and that’s about it. It is basically a commemoration service. Instead, Good Friday is more than just remembering God’s love!

Over and over again, Good Friday is about Jesus dying on the cross for our sins so that our sins are cleansed by His blood , so that those who believe in Him can have eternal life, as stated in this famous verse of John 3:15. So God loves us a lot indeed! And as I was reflecting about Good Friday, I feel that often I fall into this trap of thinking that the reason why Jesus sacrificed for us because of His sacrificial and unconditional love only. Yes the above statement is true! But is that all? I believe that by God’s grace and mercy, with God forgiving us by washing away our sins, we are able to commune with God because He yearns for us to fellowship with Him. God created men to fellowship with Him! Now we are able to have a first-hand encounter with God, entering the Holy of Holies. So it’s about having a relationship with God and knowing Him as our personal Lord and Saviour.

Not only that, God’s love can be manifested in our lives as we continue walking and abiding in Him. As we continue to grow more in the Lord, we are able to show His great and amazing love in our lives as we grow to be Christ-like . With the love of God that's inside us, we are able to show God's love to one another. We will reach and impact the people around us and they will come to see about this love that comes from God. It is first through the love of God towards us that we can show the love to the people around us!

With this sharing , i hope that all of us can learn to grow in the Lord and manifest His love to the people around us!

Your Weekly Dose of Radi8tion :: Biblical Foundations of Change :: 07 March 2008 - Pastor Wilson

Tonight I want to round up this so-called series on changes, showing you a Biblical Foundation for Change, which are principles according to God’s word.

Change is a fact that we got to accept and it will come all the time. If we don’t adjust ourselves constantly to adapt to changes, we will really loose out!

1. You and I have to recognize that by the grace from God, we are changed.

This is where you and I must realize that we do no have the power or the desire to change apart from the grace of God that’s working in our hearts.
This is where we see Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:10 that say,
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more that all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.”

Paul recognized the grace of God that’s in work but he did not stop laboring. He did not just lay back but kept on working so that God’s abundant grace can bring about a greater change in his life!
The same application is the same for all of us! We cannot say that since there’s the grace of God; let’s lay back and let the grace of God work itself to change us! Instead, let us continue working so that we can be changed by His grace!

2. Change comes by taking possession of the abundant resources that God has given to us!
These resources includes The Word of God ; The Holy Spirit ; our prayers and godly leaders/mentors/friends.

Paul affirmed that God the Father has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ (according to Ephesians 1:3)

Since we have been blessed with every blessing, there’s no doubt that God is working to mould our hearts to change. Therefore let’s look to Christ and His abundant provision.

3. Change comes by embracing the sufficiency of Scripture through Christ Jesus.
2 Peter 1:3 tells us : “…seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness…”

This simply means that Christ is all and everything and what we need. Through knowing the Lord Jesus Christ, God has given us everything we need for life and godliness by virtue of His divine power.

This is where I have said many times, encouraging you to know Him better so that you can tap into His power for what you need of Him. The problem with many of us is that our lives have been adjusted according to the pattern of the world and not according to the pattern of God’s Word. We have not learned to embrace His Word to conform us that we may see the promises to come real into our life. (Romans 12:2)

In the midst of adjusting to changes, we have to learn then to embrace the sufficiency of God’s Word so that everything that have been promised will come to pass, into each and every of our life.

4. Change comes by acknowledging our complete dependence upon Christ.
A very familiar Scripture found in John 15:5 that say,
“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruits, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”

The Lord encourages/exhorts us to abide in Him, which is to remain in Him. Let us not seek a life that drifts us apart from His life giving power. Instead let us live in such a way that we are truly dependent upon Christ so that when change occurs, He is the One to receive the glory!

5. Change comes by submitting to the operation and power of the Holy Spirit.

In Ephesians 5:18-21, Paul have these words to say,
“Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.”

We are to be influenced /controlled by the Spirit of the living God. In other words, if we want to change, we must not only be being filled but we must also walk in the Spirit!

So when facing changes , we got to know that :

God is there for us and He never abandons us
By His grace and provision, He will help us to go through changes
By surrendering and submitting to God, let’s totally depend on God to change us!

In conclusion, do you know that everyone of us exist to glorify God?

Of course many of us already do that by giving Him the praise that He deserves but at the same time, we also glorify Him by displaying His character ; His power and His grace!

That’s the life that we must reflect Christ in our lives and the greater glory He will get as others see our good works and glorify our Father.

The same applies to changes too! Once we learn to engage God and allow change to take place, the reflection of Christ will be upon us so that others will see and begin to follow!

Your Weekly Dose of Radi8tion :: 22 February 2008 - Pastor Wilson

As we settle down in our new groups, I pray and ask God that each one of you will be a minister of God, playing a role in each of your group.

By faith, I believe that not only will I witness growth in you within the group but at the same time, you will also go and bring in new people so that there will be a continual flow of people coming into the Kingdom of God! The works or ministries of God do not only just involve the pastors or full time workers. Rather, I believe that this is the era of team synergies where each of you will combine your gifts, which will spur growth in the ministry as well as the church. I really do believe that you will bring forth fruits to enhance this ministry!

This is where I would like to draw to your attention to Luke 2:52 that says
“And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” You will realize that the key word here is “Increasing” which means to drive forward or to advance.

So, in order to drive forward and to advance, there must be a need to change to accommodate that! This is exactly what Jesus did!

From Luke 2:42 onwards , Jesus did by being in the Father’s house to continue to grow/to drive forward/to advance in what He needs to fulfill His own destiny!

These are four things that Jesus had matured into –
1. In wisdom – Mentally
2. In Status – Physically
3. In Favor with God – Spiritually
4. In Favor with men – Socially
Likewise for you and I, especially in this new group setting, there must be a growth in you!

Let me brief you about our church’s core values about this word ‘Grow’. In these core values, it is written that we are committed to
1. Growing UPWARD in Worship and Celebration
2 Growing INWARD in Faith and Commitment
3 Going FORWARD in Love and Unity
4 Glowing OUTWARD in Ministry and Evangelism

Now, I would like to stress on the two points about how each one of us need to grow UPWARD in Worship and Celebration/INWARD in Faith and Commitment.

Growing UPWARD in Worship and Celebration

This means a lifestyle of worship as our personal act of devotion to God. I want to encourage you young people to change constantly in your lifestyle from that which is of the world to one that is more of Christ!
Jesus had increased in favor with God simply because there is a change involved where he had learned to spend more time in the presence of the Father’s house!

What about you today? We are entering into the month of March soon and how far have we gone in our personal act of devotion to God?
Are we growing more and more upward each day or are we growing less and less each day?

May I urge you all to do something about your growth in God in growing UPWARD!

The second growth that we all need is –

Growing INWARD in Faith and Commitment

These involve the obeying of His Word, following His ways and doing it as well.

I’m really convinced today that more of us here if not all, have plenty of head knowledge! In fact I remembered in my early days when I was in secondary school because of compulsory religious studies, I decided to enroll into Bible Knowledge class! At the end of the course I do confess I have plenty of knowledge but seriously I know nuts about who Christ was then!

Knowledge is good ; it is just like anyone of us here who have faith, which is also good! But what about living them out? This is where we do what we say and we say what we do! As the power of the Holy Spirit manifest in us, we will be transformed to be more Christ-like! This will result in each of us walking in faith, believing that God will perform signs, wonders and miracles just as it is written in the Bible.

As a minister of God it really frustrates me to see people who confess their love for God, seemingly growing INWARD but bears no fruits! We cannot hide the truth as the truth is written according to the principles of the Bible.

Thus as I share with you about the need to grow just like Jesus did in Luke 2:52, may we then also learn to grow UPWARD in Worship and Celebration as well as to grow INWARD in Faith and Commitment. This will result in each one of us here, growing from strength to strength and from glory to glory!

Your weekly dose of Radi8tion :: 01 February 2008

Over the past month, we had spent more time to set the foundational passage for the entire year of 2008, which is found in Isaiah 43:18-19.

God wants us to be faithful just as He spoke to the Israelites. What God has promised He will bring it through! God’s covenant with you will never change even if we choose not to! This is simply because God’s character never changes so swiftly.

My encouragement is “Don’t be afraid of the changes/New Things!” Let the Lord teach us so that we will all mature as our faith in Him increases more and more each day, each month and year! What I’m afraid is that you will fail to recognize or worst still, can’t be bothered by it! This is where danger will set in for a compliancy in our walk with God!

This sharing will be a continual link from the past month to what I felt God is leading me to share with you.

As you are aware, over the weeks, I have been stressing to you about changes here and there.

Two weeks from now, we will launch the new groupings. This is only the first step of the many that will eventually take place as the Lord leads us.
In my spirit, I believe that God will help us to grow not just only in numbers but also new people being equipped and matured!

In Matthew 18:1-5, it’s very interesting to note that at this time, Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem to suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teacher of the laws, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. (Matthew 16:21). While that was happening, the disciples turned the whole situation around and asked Jesus, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” How cruel can that be of the disciples?

They were very ignorant! Instead of asking Jesus how they may suffer together with him, they asked a question that’s totally irrelevant!

But knowing Jesus, a God who’s compassionate and long-suffering, He did not rebuke them but instead he answered them.

Upon seeing a child, Jesus called to him and answered them that if you want to be great, you must first be converted (or in some version – changed) and become like a child.

The word ‘converted’ speaks about “Reverse”, “To turn 180 degrees” and it's not just a simple turn! It means that there must be a change of one’s habit of life or our set of opinion to another!

It has the same understanding found in Matthew 16:23 when Jesus told Peter that he does not have in mind the things of God but the things of men. Likewise,the disciples were wrong in their views and expectations.Therefore they were asked to change or to turn to become like children who are characterized as humble and teachable!

They must lay aside their ambitious and pride of wanting to be the greatest among themselves and be willing to occupy their proper position. Hence, we all need to change ( turn away) from all form of habits of life or set of opinions to others that’s of the things of God and not things of men.

The changes that will come first in your group are to facilitate your growth with one another. If there’s anything inside your heart that is not right, I pray and ask God to convert you from the inside out.

A change that must have already began with what was already in the heart of Jesus to bring it into application here with our fellowship.

You and I must not think back the good old days and remind ourselves of the groups we had been in!

I’m convinced with all of my heart that the day of going about God’s business is set to change here in Radi8! We must not be status-quote but be consistent as the Lord sees fit to make the changes in your life and mine as well for us to submit to Him!

Of course this is not going to be easy but Jesus paints an awesome picture to us to imply that we change to be like a child!

Let’s put aside all of our thoughts and let's start afresh and anew to be converted to be the best in order to be a blessing to one another in this ministry.

Here are three stages that people go through when confronted with change (Howard Hendricks):
1. Resistance to change
2. Tolerant of change
3. Embrace the change

I trust that each one of us including myself will learn to embrace the change because it is surely for our own good!

As seen in Acts 7:39 & 42, change is shown here but of course in this context, it is negative.

Of course we all know that God forgives and communicates His love only to those who turn their hearts to Him in sincere repentance and true obedience.

But for those who have their hearts hardened, who resist the Spirit and refuse to accept God’s salvation, there remains only His wrath. I would definitely not say that if you would not submit to the change the same wrath would come to you.

But what I do want to encourage you is don’t resist the work of God and His Spirit during this transition of change. I have come to know all these years whatever God has planned for has always been a good deal and never once a bad one!

The fact is many of us are too comfortable to adapt to change. Therefore as Jesus spoke to his disciples to convert and be like a child, may we all learn to take heed to His word!

I have shared with you previously about the need for the “New Thing” that God is going to do; each one of us must have a change in our mindset to allow God to bring us to a new height. We must not settle and be satisfied with what we already have but continue to learn the New Thing in order to progress ourselves with God. It’s fine to be slow but don’t stop pursuing God – if anyone has stopped it is because one has arrived. But since we haven’t arrived yet, let’s keep pursuing God and may He show you the riches of love in your life.

Genesis 22: 1 – 19 is a very familiar story about Abraham being tested by God in asking him to offer Isaac- his only son as a sacrifice!

Specifically, there are three things I want to share you and believe that this is the “New Thing” that He wants to do in your life.

Firstly, in verse 1 the Bible tell us, that ‘some time later God tested Abraham’
God does want to prove or try each one of us in this New Year! According to James 1:2 it says,” Consider it pure joy, my brothers (or sisters) whenever you face trials of many kinds…” Also in 1 Peter 1:6:“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials…”

As God tests us, it is a time where God wants to bring about a promotion in our life; to bring us to new height to learn more of Him! Hence, whenever there is a test let’s not reject it! Instead, let’s tap into the source of God to help you run over these tests with flying colours!

Secondly, in verse 1, 11 and 15 it says these words,

He said to Abraham
The angel of the LORD called out to Abraham, and
The angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time

What really struck me is that the Lord continually called out to Abraham! I’m convinced that in this New Year, the Lord will call out to each one of you too! No matter how long have you walked with God, the Lord does call out to his children at all times!

This is because He wants to minister to you; commune with you; guide you and share His heart with you…

In the case of Samuel in 1 Samuel 3, he was called by the Lord but each time, he thought Eli called him! Finally Eli recognized that it was the LORD that have repeatedly called Samuel and asked him to say, “Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.”

Today, may I challenge you to listen attentively to His voice as the Lord is actively calling out to each and every of us just as He did to Abraham, Samuel and many other prophets of God.The Bible is clear in stating in John 10:27,“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

Without a doubt, God always speaks but again, are we listening to what He is speaking? Let’s learn to hear His voice in this New Year! If you are not sure, check with the Bible to see what it says is correct or not. If you are still not sure, look for your leaders or someone who’s mature in the Lord to help you verify! More than anything else, let’s step out to learn to hear what God has to say because He SPEAKS!

Finally, this is an area where I want to stress more which is found in Gen 22:18 - “And through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”Above all, Abraham learnt to be obedient.

If you traced the birth of Isaac, his birth is a miracle mainly because Abraham and Sarah were already well advanced in age! So when Sarah found out that she was pregnant, they recognized it a gift from God despite of their physical limitation.So when Abraham was asked to sacrifice Isaac, he never asked anything about God’s way and obeyed God, doing what he was told.

In 1 Samuel 15, it shows about Saul’s disobedience. Instead of following God’s command to destroy the enemies totally, Saul did not as he thought he did God a bigger favour by reserving what he saw that was good in his sight!
But God’s command then was very clear, “Go and completely destroy those wicked people!"This is where the Bible said through Prophet Samuel in 1 Samuel 15:22, “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”

Let’s not substitute anything for our obedience to God and His Word.

You must grasp the truth that
(1) Knowing , (2)understanding the word of God , but (3) Not walking in obedience (walking in disobedience) = Rejecting His word.

In other words, you are not practicing what you believe in – it’s either you believe or you simply walk in rebellion! Ultimately the bottom line is that you are not with God in relationship. Then this is where you and I are in the danger of being religious – going in and out of church every Friday and Sunday – it’s no different from going to a temple.

So today as you hear and listen to His voice, let’s make an effort to ask for His assistance to help you obey Him.

Over the course of my walk with God, I have learnt to hear what God is speaking into my life. I will check back again and again to the Word of God to confirm! If it makes sense to do, I will go ahead and do it anyhow because it’s nothing wrong! When I go to Heaven to meet my master, I will ask Him a lot of questions about what He asked me to do.

Most of the time, it’s a test of my obedience in Him. It’s a test of whether I’m doing my own will or fulfilling His will in the Kingdom of God.

In summary, I have shared with you three things from this passage – that

God will test us
God will speak to us
God wants us to be obedient

The Parable of the Talents
14"Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. 15To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more. 17So also, the one with the two talents gained two more. 18But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money. 19"After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.'
21"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' 22"The man with the two talents also came. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.'
23"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' 24"Then the man who had received the one talent came. 'Master,' he said, 'I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.' 26"His master replied, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.
28" 'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. 29For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

The parable of the talents warned us the need of our faithfulness in our lives and our service to God. The three servants were entrusted with various tasks according to their own ability. They were to be faithful with what they had been entrusted even though not all of them were expected to produce the same results.

What is talent? A talent is a representative of our abilities, our time, our resources and our opportunity to serve God while on earth.

From the scripture, the first two servants had their money doubled, while the last one hid his one talent.

For the first two, the Bible showed us that the Master congratulated his servants for their faithfulness with a few things. The Master will put them in charge of many things and allow them to share his happiness!

Through this, I’m convinced that God is indicating that every one across this room do have some kind of talent to serve God in the ministry. Nobody can say that they do not have because if not, the Word of God is not writing the truth!

We must not only just recognize our talents, but we must also put it to work so that our talents can be used by God to be a blessing to the ministries within a church.

For the unfaithful servant, the greatest mistake was in misjudging the character of his Master – “I knew that you are a hard man…”(v.24)
The servant thought that whatever he did his master would be unjust to him. He failed to understand the real generosity of his Master who wanted him to experience the joys of service.

Indeed having served God all these years, I want you to know that God does reward handsomely to those who put their talent to work! God pays better than any corporation and the best part of all, its non taxable!

The only thing is that we are never to compare with one another! Even though we received different number of talents , that’s perfectly fine!

I believe that this parable of the talents is one of the “New Thing” that the Lord is going to do in our midst, that God is helping us identify our own unique talent and put them to work and God will reward us accordingly.

It pays to serve but yet rewards are beyond boundaries! But if you don’t serve then sadly, your life will be eventually sold out for the cause of the world instead for the Kingdom of God.

If you are not sure how you should start serving in the ministry, my leaders and I are more than willing to help you.

Let’s put our talent to work so that the ministries of the church will not only grow but at the same time, the Kingdom of God will continue to expand to win more souls to be ushered into heaven!

Your weekly dose of Radi8tion :: 04 Jan 2008 – Pastor Wilson

Praise God for the New Year of 2008! I pray that you had a good start to 2008 and you’re already excited for the things that are to happen in your life! I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your participation with this youth ministry in 2007! Indeed the Lord has helped us and I believe for more things to happen this year ! Remember throughout 2007, my main message to every one of you was to set the pace!

Already, I believed we have set the pace for a few things already and we are going to intensify a little more this year to allow God to do greater things in your life as an individual and also as a corporate group of Radi8-tors.
As for 2008, there’s a passage found in Isaiah 43:18-19 and this is going to our theme for the year.

It is written –“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”

There are some purposes of Isaiah’s writing to God’s people! Above all, the main purpose was to lay a foundation of hope and promise for the remnant of God’s people. During that time there were a fairly big group of people who took things (especially God) for granted.They started to compromise and allowed pagan stuffs to grip into their lives and the worship of Jehovah!This is where God begin to speak through Isaiah for the few that were still faithful.

As a matter of fact, God reminded through Isaiah in Isaiah 43:16 that He who made a path through the Red Sea provided an escape route for His people and, in turn, drowned the Egyptian army to ensure their deliverance.

At this present situation, God will also do a “NEW” thing. But for God to accomplish a “New” thing, first of all, every one of us needs to forget about the past and also not to dwell on it.Over the course of time, many of us have not learnt this precious lesson about not looking back! It don’t matter to me today how much good or bad stuff that have happened to you in the past.The problem is when life is good; we are so satisfied that we would not attempt for greater things! Or when it’s bad, we become so regretful that it holds us back so much so that God cannot move us out of condemnation! May I say to you that we need to see and prepare our heart for new thing that God want to do in all our lives!

There will still be ups and downs in 2008! I’m not going to paint you a false picture that everything is going to be good!Yet at the same time, let us move out of our cocoon and not look back to the things of 2007! God is indeed doing a new thing in 2008 so that you can have a greater understanding of who this Jehovah is!I promise you that with God’s help everything that happens here will be for you and for the edification of your soul! It is for you to grasp hold of God to know Him better.

Of course there will be fun along the way and we’ll see how God will grant my team and I to have the creativity to inject fun to this ministry!
I will be as patient as I can with God’s help but if I have notice any individual who chose and decide that you do not show keen interest in God’s work I will not waste my time to entertain that! I’m not going to allow frustration to eat me up so much so that I become crippled myself in not fulfilling my best for God!

For many who show keen interest in God’s work and wants to grow, I will focus my best effort to groom and train you as much as I know how to!

To start this year, the Lord also brought to my attention to some words that were preached during the Redprint Youth Camp by Ps. Chris Long. This is necessary to highlight as it helps you understand what the Lord said then is to prepare us for now.

Ps. Chris shared with us of “Becoming a History Maker”. He related about Josiah in 2 Chronicles 34 and shared with us 4 things –

He Knew His Royal Position
He Knew Who His Hero Was
He Sought God With All His Heart
He Did Some Things That He Has Never Done Before

This is what I believe that God will help me to see who the history makers are! The one who will seek God and attempt to try things that have never been done before! One who will stand along with the Radi8 ministry!
On the other hand, we must not have the “Business As Usual” kind of an attitude!

In His closing evening, he shared about “Taking Our Faith to the Next Level” from Luke 9.
He spurred us by saying that Jesus demands from us more than just lip service and he related 4 points as well –

We Need to Keep Our Vows to God
We Need to Sacrifice
We Need to Preach the Gospel
We Need to Set Our Priorities Right

This would mean to sacrifice yourself to move on to the next level.
Sacrifice does not mean for you to give up but rather an offering unto the Lord! This is because if you talk about giving up then you become calculative! But instead when you talk about offering to God, it’s worship just like many times we have said, “The sacrifice of Praise”!

At the same time, let’s set our priorities in the right place – which involves discipline!

Talking about taking our faith to the next level,

If you have no idea who God is, you will increase to know him enough to make Him Your personal Savior!
If you already know Jesus as your personal Savior, then this year you will know him more intimately!
If you are already intimately know Jesus, then that will translate to your maturity in your walk with God and so on and so forth.

Just remember one thing; God is indeed doing a new thing in the house! The choice is yours!

Let me just highlight a few things that will be for the good of you here in Radi8!

Coming February we will begin a New Group system!
In March we will launch our Youth cell with the new grouping! This is further to help you to get to know more people and develop a fresh and new relationship!
Many of you will be continue to be selected to go through training as the Lord will help us to hand pick future leaders in the making – the new generation of history makers!
From now on in most if not all events, priorities will indeed be give to regular attendees! After which we will see on a case to case basis!

I believe God will help us to accomplish the things here! More than anything else every one of you here does play a part and will be counted for the Kingdom of God!

All I’m asking as I challenge you from the word of Isaiah is to participate with us – which will be for the good of the edification of your soul!

Heyz!

This brand new year has just begun ! There are new things, new plans , new changes and decisions that we will face ahead!

Every day we got to make decisions/plans – be it minor or major – at the end of the day we still got to decide no matter how hard it takes .Be it in school, workplace or wherever, we make decisions that seemed uncertain – whether it is a correct or wrong decision!

But thank God that God holds the future and He knows the perfect plan for each and every one of us!

So let me share the scripture that I read today from Gen 13:5-13(NIV)-
5Now Lot, who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents. 6 But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together. 7 And quarreling arose between Abram's herdsmen and the herdsmen of Lot. The Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land at that time.
8 So Abram said to Lot, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers. 9 Is not the whole land before you? Let's part company. If you go to the left, I'll go to the right; if you go to the right, I'll go to the left."
10 Lot looked up and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan was well watered, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, toward Zoar. (This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) 11 So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company: 12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom. 13 Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.

As I was reading this passage of scripture today, it reminded me to seek and ask Him for His direction for my life and future – what is His direction and plan for me! At times in the past, I find myself making decisions hurriedly without really consulting God, and later, regretting the decisions that I initially thought seemed best to me. As in the above scripture -verse 10, when Lot was asked to make a decision by Abraham to choose the path he wants to take, Lot did not ask God. Instead by his own finite and limited wisdom, Lot saw a well-watered plain of Jordan which seemed like the garden of the Lord and he probably presumed that’s the best and great place for him in the future. However it wasn’t and later on in Genesis 14, Lot was taken captive. And through our human eyes, we cannot foresee the future. In Prov 16:9 ‘In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.’ Man plans but God directs. The Lord has a plan for us and He directs us according to His perfect plan, not our imperfect human plan .When we are being led by God, our plans will be aligned with His plan . Also in Proverbs 16 : 3, ‘Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed’.When we plan (as led by God) to do His will, for His glory, by the ability and strength He gives us, our plans will be successful! It means that when we are committed to do God's will, in His strength, we will have success!

So it’s best to start this year by abiding in Him and follow His perfect plan (Jeremiah 29:11) and I’m sure that we will find this year a more fruitful one and one of great success!

Who is God?

Ask yourself the following questions and answer them honestly -
Have I lie before? Have I cheated before? Have I bullied my fellow friends and ridicule them? Have I ever disobeyed my parents? Am I thinking to seek revenge on my friends? Am I having lustful thoughts?

Many a times, we perceived our actions as perfectly alright, thinking there’s nothing wrong in committing such acts! We think that we are not as bad as those lawbreakers – thieves, murderers, burglars etc. However, bad actions (no matter how big or small) are sinful and we are deemed bad people! All of us here on earth (no matter how big or small your wrong action) have sinned in our lives apart from Jesus!

In Romans 3 : 23, it mentions - “There is none righteous, no, not one. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:10,23).”

From God’s judgment, all mankind have sinned before God! And there are consequences to face. Romans 6:23 says “ For the wages of sin is death”

As each of us has sinned, we all deserved to die. And this death does not mean just human death. It is an eternal consequence – being sentenced to death in hell forever! With sin in our lives, we are have fallen short of God’s glory and we actually deserve to die an eternal death.

What have been stated so far is terrifying and scary but it’s true!

So is there a solution to remove our sins and not face an eternal death?

Here’s the good news - by God’s unconditional love and grace, we need not face hell in eternity. Jesus Christ is the only answer for man’s sins! Despite our sins, God yearns and wants us to have a relationship with Him! Isn’t that wonderful? His love towards us is just indescribable and awesome. God does not want us to enter hell and be consumed by the eternal fiery flames. He loves us and wants each of us to reconcile with Him, having an eternal life – a life that will be forever and ever and ever – without sorrow, mourning but filled with happiness ! “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).”

Yes through God’s love, He sent His son, Jesus, in the form of man to come to earth and take the guilt and shame of our sins. By dying on the cross at Calvary 2000 over years ago, the precious blood of Jesus has washed all our iniquity and sins!

So what must we do to receive eternal life?
We got to recognize that God is a holy God and He detests sin! With sin between God and man, there cannot be a relationship and closeness with Him. Sin need to be removed from our lives before we can be promised an eternal life with God.

Through our own works, other religions and philosophies, we will never ever be able to reach God and have a relationship with Him no matter how many times we try! Even if we try to be good at all times, we will still be never able to have eternal life!

John 14 : 6 says “ I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me”

Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and three days later he rose from the dead. He has already broken the chains of sins in man’s lives, bridging the gap so that we can reach God.

We got to make a decision and God gives us a choice to choose.

We must recognize that our sins lead us to our death; Jesus died on the cross for our sins and bore the consequences for us.
Now, we got to receive through faith, and ask for God to enter our lives and be our Saviour! That we must believe that He is the only way to heaven and He has save us by bearing the punishment of our sins so that we need not face eternal death.
We got to repent and confess of all our sins, and turn away from our sins. Through this, we ask for God’s forgiveness with a genuine heart because God looks at our heart. Ask God to help us, that we would not turn back to our old ways, and commit our bad deeds!
With God entering into your life, you will be ‘born-again’ and this brand new life with God will be more meaningful and purposeful! God loves us very much, His love for us we can never comprehend, and He has a perfect plan for us if we choose to follow Him, knowing that He has the best for us! We got to believe and trust that from now on, God will direct our footpaths and steps in life!

So with a new beginning, it’s important for you to say the following prayer to God-

Dear God,
Thank You for loving me. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son who came and lived a perfect life among us. I know I have not lived a perfect life. I ask for Your forgiveness for my sins, and self-willed behavior. I believe that Jesus died for me and paid the consequences of my sin and rebellion. Also, He rose from the dead to give me a new life. Today, I invite Jesus to live in me and to direct my life as my Lord and Saviour. I commit myself to following You the rest of my life. Thank You for hearing my prayer. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Saying this prayer without sincerity it is meaningless. You must first believe God and trust that He is going to change your life for the better.

If you have said this prayer with a sincere heart and believing that God has now entered your life, congrats!

Radi8 Carecell Groups !

Officially launched on 14 March 2008, this new group system is structured to help each and every Radi8tor mature and grow in God. In a carecell group, Radi8tors will be able to connect with one another, care for one another and commune with one another where we all can learn about His word, pray and mature in faith. From here , each Radi8tor will go in faith and commitment, becoming more like Christ, even as one experience His power through worship; to grow in love and unity , that the world may know that Jesus Christ is Lord; and glow in ministry and evangelism reaching and impacting friends, relatives associates and neigbours with God's love!

If you would like to join one, do come weekly for our Radi8 Carecell Group Sessions which are also held every Friday, 7.30pm at Faith 4 Hall, Level 4 , Elim Church

About Us!

Launched with this new name on 15 October 2006 , Radi8 is Elim Church's youth ministry. Like a city on a hill, we aspire to radiate the presence and glory of the true and living God to the hurting , harassed and helpless in our worlds.

We are radicals for Jesus; His arm extended, and His prophetic voice to this generation that desperately needs to hear the gospel and find true meaning and purpose in life. Together, we know we are a force that will impact our communities for the glory of God and see the fulfillment of His destiny for our lives.

Dynamic , exuberant and fun loving, we meet every Friday at 7.30pm for engaging worship, teaching sessions, discussion groups and other activities that help us connect with God and relate to one another. Besides , we also gather for special events such as camp , outdoor adventure and recreational activities.

Our Vision and Mission!

From a central point, Radi8tors are to project or glow as every individual. We as a spirit-filled young people, and a spirit-filled youth ministry, to reach and impact the spiritually unresolved youth, here and beyond!

In this year of 2008, let's be prepared and gear up for the many changes that God has prepared and will do this year! Let us allow God to move and mould our lives so that we can be a blessing not only in this youth ministry but also to the people we come into contact with. Closure of 2007 Radi8 Service :: Pastor Wilson

As the year approaches to an end, let’s take time to reflect and evaluate ourselves – thinking about the achievements in 2007 ; as well as the regrets in 2007 that you hope to achieve in 2008! (For those who couldn’t make it for the last youth service of the year, here’s the time to evaluate! )

The purpose of this evaluation is to help you push a little more effort for the new things that God will do in your life.

One thing is for sure and the Word of God can’t go wrong in Matthew 6:33 that says,
“Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provision. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” – Message version.

How true is this Word of God but yet many times, as Children of God we have failed to steep our life in God.

For the many achievements in 2007, let’s be quick to give thanks to God because He enabled you. Give thanks because you are to make known to others that it’s not because of you; Rather it’s through His all sufficient grace that you have achieved !

As for regrets, may I urge you then to re-evaluate what went wrong! What are the steps you are to avoid so as not to make the same mistakes again?

Discipline yourself and seek to ask of God to help you to get out of these mistakes so that you no longer dwell on your regrets but conquer them in the days to come, more so in 2008!

So I hope this little evaluation exercise can help you to conclude the year of 2007.

Now many things have happened over the course of this year. From the start of the year we dealt with the series of “Who Am I?” I still remembered how ZQ and Deborah gave a special number – ‘ Who Am I ? ‘ as well.

During the Chinese New Year celebration, I have asked you to create anything out of “Ang Pow” and Yvonne won a prize for it!

This was followed by another quarter of preparation towards the Youth Camp in a decade on “Redprint” – Gear up, Move out!

After the Youth camp, we changed course to focus on the vision and mission statement of “ Reaching and impacting the spiritually unresolved, here and beyond.” This is to follow up and act upon the “Gear up, move out” from the Redprint camp.

Instead of being more inward looking, I have constantly asked you to move out to bless someone, to reach and impact someone – so that God Himself will reward you beyond your needs as you learned to share His love to others!

In August, not only have we raised more than enough money to buy packet drinks, we also moved out of the four walls of the church to step into our community to bless them with free drinks and the calendar cards

Most of you shared your experiences within your group and we continued from there to shift our focus on mission where we go beyond the local context!

I kept challenging you about doing more (especially for most of you) to start from home by doing simple chores . This is an act of reaching out to impact your parents !

I pray that this is not going to a forgotten series but may I take on the liberty to share that you continue to work on reaching and impacting the spiritually unresolved, here and beyond! Towards the end of 2007, we had 2 mission trips! First – Josiah, joining the Moriah’s youth in Thailand and second – the eight of them embarking on a trip to Thailand as well!

Not to fail to mention that some of you that have gone through some form of leaders’ training with me and also through the camp as well.

Now we must thank God for helping us! Yet again we must not be satisfied that we have done enough!

With God’s help, I pray and want to see a greater intensity here in our fellowship with one another and also with God as well in 2008! With God’s help we are going to put together a series of 4 sessions for everyone to know the basic of our belief in God! With God help, we are to re-organizing our group where you will not only be in a group but will be minister to! You will probably have a new leader if not the same! You will probably be also more engaging where it will not only the role of the leader to fulfill his part but everyone in a group plays a part as well!

In all the process of changes, most importantly as individuals, we must first grow and through that, we must believe God for our growth and also in this Radi8 youth ministry!

Thus these are the few things you could look forward to in the New Year.

But let’s conclude with this thought from the Bible found in 2 Peter 1:5-8 and it is written,
“For this very reason, MAKE EVERY EFFORT to add

To your faith, goodness ; and
To goodness , knowledge ; and
To knowledge, self control ; and
To self - control , perseverance ; and
To perseverance, godliness; and
To godliness , brotherly kindness ; and
To brotherly kindness , love

For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Basically Peter is encouraging his congregation of Christians who had suffered rejection because of their obedience to Christ!

He is telling them the need to recognize an effective and productive life comes about because of
character transformation !

That is to say there must be constant self evaluation to spur change in order for us to be effective and productive in the Kingdom of God!

Over the course of time, I have met to a certain extent of disappointment as your pastor because you have made a choice not to change!

But as far as I’m concern for now and next year, I’m digging in to believe God that He will do something much greater than I can do to transform your life. Eventually every single one of you will be effective and productive in the Kingdom of God. You will be a God fearing individual that will bear forth His fruits that His light will shine through you. Many of us here still have many, many rough edges! God is still not done with me & so are you!

Therefore, let’s take heed to Peter’s word here!

Radi8 Email Interview # 3 (Part 2 of 2 ) : Mission trip to Thailand

in this interview , max roped in janice to answer these questions ! enjoy reading.

+: How has this mission trip benifited you and your team and what have you all learnt from this mission trip.

JANICE : What it has benifited me:
- For me personally, i'm rather a noob.. ops.. NEWBIE in Radi8. I have only attented like four months and is a complete stranger to most of the youths. This mission trip had helped me to know more of the youths and God gave me a pleasant suprise that they are a fun-loving bunchof people!:)
- This mission trip has also widened my telescope of life (if there's ever such phrase) which leads to the things which i have learnt...
What i have learnt:
- i have learnt that we should not take things for granted. Things which we complained that is not good enough for us is actually so precious to them. eg,simple sweets.
- To place your trust entirely in the Lord. I have been challenged many times by the Lord, to step out of my comfort zone and He has blessed me tremendously. He gave me the strength, boldness and courage to do things which i was not comfortably with.
- I have learnt to work hard and play hard. When it is time to do good works for the Lord, do it with all you've got. When it's time to enjoy and relax, thank and praise Him and enjoy what He has given you!

MAX : Initially when we set out for the mission trip, i could only think of trying to benefit others but now that i am back, i can safely say that the benefits were on both ways. Not only did i learn so much more of the culture there but it also gave me a deeper understanding of missions. Some of my traditional thoughts of the mission fields were changed when i experienced it for myself. Not only that, we had also met up with another Singaporean Pastor who is a missionary there and had shared some of his personal experience, difficulites, challenges he faced out in the field and how God is so good to him to meet all his need.

+ : What was the most memorable thing that has impacted your life during this mission trip?

JANICE : It was the time which we went to the rural side of Thailand and visited two villages. When we sang worship songs and Christmas carols to them. All of them were so joyful and happy. The pastor in thailand (who was also one of our interpreters) kept asking us to sing more songs for them. Praise God!

MAX: The visit to the villages really impacted me. Watching the children stare in amazement at the simple things we did. That was really cool. They were also so open to us too, which was a real surprise to me. One of the villages, organized a Christmas Party for us when we arrived. Not a simple task to do especially when you have so little for your own self. It must have been a sacrifice on their part. We even had soft drinks to drink!!! Though I didn't see anyone of them drinking any of it.

+: How do you think this mision trip will encourage other Radiators to go for mission trips in the future?

JANICE : I pray that through our testimonies that God will stir in their hearts to get ready for next year's mission trip. This is truly an eye-opener trip!

MAX : Tell you the truth... it was really really fun. I truly enjoyed myself at the mission trip. Food was cheap and delicious. Who ever said we couldn't have fun a missions. Hehehehehe... And Ps Wilson really took really good care of us lo. We were spoilt like little children. heheheheh.

Starting a new year with a new perspective ~ Ps Raju Rauth

‘But strive first for the Kingdom of God and His righteousness,
And all these things will be given to you as well.’
- Matthew 6:33 (NRSV)

In the above verse, we must strive/desire for an experience (encounter) with God and then our lives can be changed , our character would be molded, we will grow more and more in the Lord.

God would not just supernaturally inject in us to become a mature Christian.

It only happens when we strive and desire to have a first-hand experience with God. God is waiting for us to have this experience with Him. He wants us to experience Him but it is our choice if we want to experience Him or not. God doesn’t hold us by the neck and force us to have this experience with Him. God gives us a choice.

To have a new perspective, we must learn to put God first in our lives (Matt 6:33) .God is our priority, not family, not friends, not ministry, not school work , not career etc. When we desire to put God first in our lives, all things will be given to you as well (Matt 6:33).

Being a Christian is not a religion; it is not going to church as a routine - going to church is not because our parents or friends go to church that we follow; it is not about ministry work in the church. It is not about how much we do for God or the ministry we are serving in. Ultimately, it is how much we know God, how much we want to experience Him –our personal relationship with God , our time spent in devotion with God alone, the intimacy we have with God.

Hence, our lives can then be changed, we then can have a new perspective – our old perspective is changed; we see things not in the intellectual way ( the way our mind thinks ) but in God’s perspective.

So how do we experience God?
- In our Worship

We are made to worship God, to minister to God. God inhabits our worship, God is the audience not us. Worship is our ministry to God! We must learn to minister to God and worship Him in spirit!

But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him. God is spirit and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
- John 4:23-24 (NRSV)

So in order to know what is worship all about, we need to know the concept of the tabernacle in the Old testament.

1. Outer court : Physical realm.
• This is where the Israelites were, they could only stay at the outer court. When we listen to a preacher preach in church, that is a second hand experience.
• However we cannot live in a second hand experience. Our lives will never be changed until we come out of the physical realm.

2. Holy Place : Intellectual Realm
• The priests had the knowledge; they quoted the scripture and read the word. However, their character is never built up. Some priests experience first hand encounter but most did not. As such they were corrupted.
• Many Christians are like that. We read the word, we serve in the ministry, we do God’s works but we never experience God. Our intellectual thinking hinders what God wants us to do. Our lives are never changed because we lack the first hand experience with God, we do not seek God , we do not have a relationship with God.

3. Holy of Holies : Spiritual Realm
• In the Holy of Holies, the high priest can only enter and he experience God personally, hearing the voice of God.
• Now, we are given the opportunity to enter the Holy of Holies.
• We must surrender ourselves to God, to let Him touch our lives and change us! Our perception must change; we must open up to allow God to do the work in our lives!

So where are u now ?

Are you in the ......................
• physical realm (where you just come to church only not doing anything )
• intellectual realm (where you just read the word , and there is no experience with God )
• spiritual realm ( where you have a personal relationship with God)

It is a privilege now to enter God’s presence to hear God’s voice, to allow Him to change our lives , change our perspective, to seek Him to know His perfect plan for us. In John 10:10, it mentions that ‘my sheep hears my voice’; we can hear God’s voice only if we are willing to listen to Him.

God will do anything if we allow Him to intervene in our lives and yield/surrender ourselves to Him and His work in us.

So let’s desire to have a first-hand experience with God, to be in the spiritual realm, to seek God more and more each and every day , so that our lives will be changed and we can have a new perception right now!

Radi8 Email Interview #3 with Max (Part 1 of 2) :Mission trip to Bangkok

This interview with Max was conducted before he left for Bangkok. As he was rather busy with work and could only complete half of it, there will be a part 2 , which is to be conducted when he returns...

+ : Hey Max, what got you into this mission trip?

Serving or doing something for God is always exciting and meaningful. All it takes is for one soul to be saved and all of heaven is rejoicing. I also think it’s a privilege and honour that God has opened the door for me and given me this opportunity to go.

+: By the way, is this your first mission trip ?

This is my second mission trip. The first one was in northern Thailand.

+: And how have you prepared yourself for this mission trip?

Well, time has really approached really fast. I’ve been praying about the mission trip in my quite time and the last couple of weeks have been super busy at work especially with me going to the mission trip.

You know how Sabrina shared 2 weeks ago where even by us being a good student to our teachers we could be a blessing to them. It motivated me to work harder and miss my lunch for almost a week in order for me to complete as much work as possible.

Initially, I just wanted to push all the work to my colleagues and just leave for the mission trip, but that wouldn’t be a blessing to them. Hope that this will glorify His name.

+: What will you guys be doing there?

We’re gonna help out and serve in an evangelistic crusade for the Myanmar Ministry. We’re also going to minister in a Juvenile Centre, reach out a people in some of the homes and minister in a very ulu village.

There we’re be providing medicines, food, gifts, mosquito nets, praying for people and their needs, some sharing of testimonies and the gospel and a presentation.

As the mission team is in Bangkok now, let's pray for God's protection and His guidance for the mission team....

Also pray for good health, God's anointing upon the team members, and for the people's hearts to be open and receptive to the word of God.

"I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.”

Sometimes we want to bless others so that we can receive God’s blessings. There’s nothing wrong with that. But let’s change our perspective – God bless us so that we can bless others.

In Genesis 39:1-6, Joseph was sold as a slave to Egypt by his brothers.

1. Joseph bless by association.

As a slave, he bless his master,Potiphar.

The Lord was with Joseph and prospered him, giving him success in everything he did. Joseph found favour in Potiphar’s eyes and was put in charge of his household. The blessing of the Lord was on everything Potiphar had – because of Joseph’s association.

In Genesis 39:20-23, Joseph was accused by Potiphar’s wife of having an affair and was imprisoned.

2. Joseph bless by being a good and responsible worker.

As a prisoner, he bless the prison warden. The Lord’s favour was with Joseph that the prison warden put him in charge of all those held in the prison. The warden paid no attention to the things under Joseph’s care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.

In Col 3:23, whatever you do , do it unto the Lord and not for men. As a student, as an employee etc... we bless by being a good and responsible worker .

In Genesis 41:15-16; 28-40,

3. Joseph bless Pharoah, Egypt and his family by exercising his gifts and talents

Joseph exercised his gift of interpreting Pharoah’s dreams – which allowed them to store up food for seven years of famine. Not only did the food provided (blessed) Pharoah and the Egyptians , it also provided (blessed) his family – because Joseph exercised his gift of interpreting dreams .

What are Spiritual gifts???

Charisma: a gift of grace; a favor which one receives without any merit of his own (Thayer's Greek Lexicon)
Every Christian has at least one gift
For the common good, to help the church
Gifts do not determine our worth in Christ. But rather it is distributed as the Holy Spirit wills.

Some examples of spiritual gifts :
Teaching, encouragement, service, giving, showing mercy, hospitality, leadership, music and arts , prophecy, evangelism, wisdom, intercession, administration , faith.

In 1 Cor 12:31 (NIV) , it says -
"But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.”

There are two interpretations to the above verse- “And in any event, you should desire the most helpful gifts.” (NLT) and “Yet you are envious of each others gifts”.

Our gifts do not determine our worth. If we are faithful with little, God will bless you with more! Start desiring gifts that will benefit the church most, instead of us!

However, our spiritual gifts can no longer be meaningful if we do not have the love for God as well as the love of others.

If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother. - 1 John 4:20-21 (NIV)

Two kinds of love -
à phileo: have affection for
à agape: to love (in a social or moral sense); to have esteem or high regard

Last but not least,

4. Joseph bless God by bringing glory to Him throughout his life.

Above all, let’s learn to bless God in whatever we do!

Giving to Poverty (2 Corinthians 8 : 1-9 )

Last week, I attended a conference when Bill Hybel was interviewing leaders of various fields on the subject of the passion for leadership!
There was this video clip about Richard Custis, who directed the movie, “Four Weddings & a Funeral” and the sitcom, “Mr. Bean”, who’s so passionate about his need to see poverty make history! Thus from there he would go to anywhere to raise funds without being embarrassed to ask for money to rid of the injustice of poverty.

In Singapore we live in a cosy environment where there is the comfort of an air-con. At times you wonder why you are even here even though you wish you could have been somewhere else; every three seconds, a child from Africa dies because of poverty.

The amazing part above all - the interview & all the work Richard Custis had done, that moved beyond the heart of Bill Hybel, is the fact that this man is not even sure of his status with God & where he would spend eternity!

But what he has seen compelled him that he cannot just sit around doing nothing but to do his entire bit to rid of poverty.

What about us tonight?
We who have known Jesus as our personal Saviour, enjoying the blessings of this hope that we have! Seeing & witnessing in many ways of His providence not because you & I are angelic but rather His grace towards us as children.

What are we doing about it?
Like most Singaporeans, we are not satisfied with what we have but continue to seek for more creatures comfort.
When we do not get the “wants list”, we cry like a babe! We become angry as though someone owe us a living or something. Worst of all, some of us even think we deserved it anyhow!

If there’s anything let us all be thankful that we are born in a place called Singapore - a place where there’s no lack but rather a land of plenty of almost everything you can find in life except for the downside of the nature area here in the island.

But still, what are we doing about it?
Looking into the scripture,
1 Now, friends, I want to report on the surprising and generous ways in which God is working in the churches in Macedonia province. 2 Fierce troubles came down on the people of those churches, pushing them to the very limit. The trial exposed their true colors: They were incredibly happy, though desperately poor. The pressure triggered something totally unexpected: an outpouring of pure and generous gifts. 3 I was there and saw it for myself. They gave offerings of whatever they could—far more than they could afford!— 4 pleading for the privilege of helping out in the relief of poor Christians.
5 This was totally spontaneous, entirely their own idea, and caught us completely off guard. What explains it was that they had first given themselves unreservedly to God and to us. The other giving simply flowed out of the purposes of God working in their lives. 6 That's what prompted us to ask Titus to bring the relief offering to your attention, so that what was so well begun could be finished up. 7You do so well in so many things—you trust God, you're articulate, you're insightful, you're passionate, you love us—now, do your best in this, too.
8 I'm not trying to order you around against your will. But by bringing in the Macedonians' enthusiasm as a stimulus to your love, I am hoping to bring the best out of you. 9You are familiar with the generosity of our Master, Jesus Christ. Rich as he was, he gave it all away for us—in one stroke he became poor and we became rich.

There are things that we can learn from the Macedonia’s church:
In verse 2, we read & understand that the church have been going through persecution since the birth of the fellowship. Yet that did not stop them from giving to reach & impact even though they are financially poor.

Verse 3 shows an example of sacrifice because they simply gave more than they could afford!

Pause for a moment and think. What is your sacrifice? Is it sacrificing a small grain of rice from your plate? Or breaking the custom of not having new clothes for Chinese New Year / giving away our Christmas presents to others? Or sacrificing some money to give to the poor?

In Verse 4, they saw beyond their needs and pleaded for the privilege to share financially in order to minister the needs of other people!

Verse 5 talks about the basic key element that we should all learn. It is written that “What explains it was that they had first given themselves unreservedly to God and to us. The other giving simply flowed out of the purposes of God working in their lives.” This is a model for all of us to follow without a shadow of doubt! This is not only in the area of giving but also in any other areas like loving one another, forgiving each other, treating one another nicely and cultivating friendships with other people .

The list continues but the basic key element is to first of all, give ourselves unreservedly to God in order to allow Him to work through us. If we don’t give ourselves unreservedly to God , then our labour would be in vain. After giving oneself to God to allow Him to work through us, then we are able to love, forgive the people around us.

In Verse 8, Paul says that the giving that you and I are going to participate in is not by commandment but must be a gift of voluntary!

A gift that long to satisfy the needs of others. In 2 Corinthians 9:7, it says “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” That we should give our best unto the Lord , not under compulsion but because of God’s love that flows within us!

In verse 9, the greatest example of us who not only “talk the walk but more so walk the talk”, Jesus!

Here is one of the most inspiring examples of generosity as Jesus was rich but He became poor through the total giving of Himself.
Philippians 2:5-8 confirmed that by saying –

Verse5 – Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus though of himself
Verse6 – He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what

Verse8 – Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death – and the worst kind of death at that: a crucifixion.

In conclusion , let us operate in the generosity of God’s love in our lives to give, to bless , to make someone else’s life better!

hey!

my apologies for not having the blog updated.
Since i'm free now after my exams, i would try my utmost best to get the blog updated with interesting stufz (instead of only looking at the tagboard full of birthday wishes every time...lol) if u have any ideas to contribute in making this blog more interesting, please do not hesistate and let me know.

Praise and worship

"Lately, i cannot help but read the lyrics and the meanings behind them more than actually singing them. I'm sure at certain points; we ask ourselves the meaning of a certain song. Some of them are as plain as the lyrics put it, others with deeper meanings.

But songs sung to God are songs of adoration, songs of our thankfulness, songs confessing our sin, or songs declaring our love, allegiance, and faith to the Almighty God. These songs were written from inspired men and women of God and many also coming from God's word itself. And songs written/composed that are inspired by the Holy Spirit are songs of truths. Truths we declare each time we sing them.

Someone once asked me why do Christian sing songs? And of course the typical answer i gave was to worship our God. But indeed.. why DO we need songs? Wouldn't reading the lyrics be the same as declaring all those truths just by reciting them like how we recite the pledge in school every day? Well.. Christians can also have a good time worshipping the Lord. With music as God's gift to mankind, and people worshipping the Lord with music from way back in Genesis with the birth of Jubal, the father of all who play the harp and flute, Miriam after the crossing of the dead sea, King David and etc. it is definitely a blessing to sing unto the Lord. Some people have better gifts of singing than others. I guess you know what I am alluding to here. =)

But just a thought the next time we worship the Lord in songs. Am I singing cause I know that it is the right thing and that I want to achieve all those and singing helps? Or am I singing to remind myself weekly of my relationship with this great God, my sin, what His son has done in my life my debt and response? Or am I singing simply cause I love singing and that I love the flow of music coming through my ears and flowing out my mouth and body? Or am i singing because that is what I know and believe with all my heart, mind and soul to be, therefore I cant help but express it and agree?

So worshipping God is not as easy. It is akin to declaring your allegiance in front of your Lord and King.

Psalms 17:1-5 (NLT)

1O LORD, hear my plea for justice. Listen to my cry for help. Pay attention to my prayer, for it comes from honest lips.

2Declare me innocent, for you see those who do right.

3You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart in the night. You have scrutinized me and found nothing wrong. I am determined not to sin in what I say.

4I have followed your commands, which keep me from following cruel and evil people.

5My steps have stayed on your path; I have not wavered from following you.

David prayed this prayer while waiting on God to rescue him from all his enemies. It reminds me to keep on track even in times of trouble. Many times we walk away from God because we thought God has abandoned us when we needed Him the most. The truth is, in His time, He will make all things beautiful. Sometimes, God just want us to wait on Him, be a little patient. He just wants to see how much we rely on him.

Psalms 46:1 (NLT) says “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” God has already told us in His word that He is ALWAYS ready to help us when we need Him. It seriously doesn’t matter when He stretches out His arms and pull us up. It is all in His timing. What matters the most is we have to stay on track with God and not stray away.

David kept God’s commands and remains faithful to God even in his times of troubles. He did not waver from following God. David set an example to us. Let us not waver from God even in times of trouble. Let’s stay on track and persevere on to see God do His work in our lives. Be patient and He will make things beautiful in His time! =)

I’ve learnt it over the past weeks when I had some problems. I didn’t set my eyes on God and started seeking help from everyone else except God. Seriously, if God were to scrutinize me, He’ll probably find ALL things wrong about me! But God is gracious in His own ways and led me to Psalms 17:1-5. Not forgetting He sent many angels along my path to help me along! I committed my situation to God and I found peace in my heart! =) I hope this will be an encouragement to all those who reads this! Worry when God works?

Hi! It’s a great pleasure to be able to post something on Radi8 blog.
Have you wondered when God works when you are in difficult needs?

Well, I don’t know about you guys but it definitely occurs quite a few times in my life. Recently, I was having attachment in Philips Singapore and my partner and I were being assigned to a new video conferencing project. Sounds cool right? However, problems start to surface and my supervisor was quite pushy in terms of performance and I had a hard time trying to meet the requirements.

I knew it was too much for me to handle the problems alone, so I kept on praying and consulting God. Whenever I prayed the same prayer, I could hear God was asking me, “Bo Chun, do you trust me completely? If you trust me, then be patient and rest the matter.” It sounded easy but requires a lot of faith.

To be honest, I struggled with the answer sometimes. On one hand, I am allowing God to take control but on the other hand, I want God to solve my problems asap. Contradicting huh?

But, God always reminded me who I should yield myself to. Is it God? Or is it my own selfish desires or even to the standards of the world?

I would like to share with you guys these 3 verses which I found meaningful.
Matthew 6: 31-33
31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

We are told not to worry about basic necessities. Surely God knows and will take care of other needs as well. It is always easier said than done but friends, we ought to follow the instructions in verse 33, to seek His kingdom and His righteousness first. I am still learning to let God be God and me to be His vessel.

The prayer week runs from Sunday noon to Sunday noon.
A simple passing of the prayer baton from one church to the next during Sunday service.

What's it all about?
We believe God is calling the churches in Singapore to hold a year long prayer chain for revival for our land. We are looking for likeminded churches to do just that. The picture is that of the lamp before the tabernacle in the Old Testament, which God commanded to be lit continually before His Presence: Command the sons of Israel that they bring to you clear oil from beaten olives for the light, to make a lamp burn continually. Leviticus 24:2-3 Is this prayer movement associated with Pete Greig or the Boiler Room movement? We thank God for the prayer movement started by Pete Greig in 1999 in England called the 24.7 as well as other prayer movements among the youth such as the Boiler Room. However, the Singapore chain is not related to these prayer movements. HELLO !!!

Last week I decided to do something RANDOM! I went to Eunos Primary School and just play with the little kids in the carehut. It’s like an after school care kind of thing. It was during their school holidays when I was there.

When I reached there, settled down, we started playing a game after their afternoon nap. This part made me think A LOT!! *I do think ok??* Amy was playing a game where she reads a passage to the kids and when the word “LOVE” is mentioned, the kids are suppose to catch the neighbour’s finger and at the same time escape from being caught by the finger! The passage was from 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does no rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. (NLT version)

I actually prefer the NIV version.

Love is patient, Love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (NIV version)

While playing the game with the kids, I didn’t quite bother about the real meaning of the passage until when I was on my way home. This passage and the whole session of game came to my mind. I remembered how amy asked the kids who you love? Some kids were eager to answer that question whereas some just simply kept quiet. I wondered why some kept quiet? Don’t they have anyone they love? And it kept my thinking about the real meaning of the passage. Love is patient. How many times we lose our patience when talking to our loved ones? We said we love them, yet we do not even have patience to take time and chat with them. Love is kind. It is easily said than done! I often ask myself this question, “am I really kind to the ones I love? Are the words I speak kind?” maybe some of you can agree with me! Many times we say I love someone but we often say words that hurt them! This is not being kind! Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Can we really say that we can endure through EVERY circumstance and persevere on with our loved ones together? It is hard but not impossible!

Since July, Pastor Wilson has been talking about Reaching and Impacting. What I really felt that God is telling is that reach and impact within our group first before we can reach and impact people outside! To reach and impact the ones in our group, I personally feel LOVE is much needed! Although you may not really like some people in Radi8 , but think of Jesus! When He did good works, he did not choose the likable ones! In fact, He blessed the ones that were the outcasts of society at that time! I’m not saying we have unlikable people in Radi8, but I’m saying we should love EVERYONE despite of their shortcomings! It all begins in “ME”. If we want to really reach and impact, let us start from within! Let us love each other despite of their shortcomings! Let us be patient to one another and kind with our words!

Hope I am not preaching! Haha. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! =)

HEY! Howdie’do! Hope the weeks’ been amazing for you!

Anyway, I found this conversation quite interesting:

A: The dog’s so cute!

B: I wonder if the dogs think we are cute. If dogs have their own social circle, do they actually gossip about humans huh? Like… we always think we are the master over dogs, but do they actually think we are their owners or just a weird looking animal around them?

A: Haha if they do, they must be wondering… how come this animal so weird, can stand on two legs, can have different colored hair every month, can paint toe-nails, hair sometimes long sometimes short…and how come they need to wear clothes one…

B: Haha yeah! Maybe like dogs can talk among themselves and they think we’re the animals instead…

This got me thinking about how human-centric our attitudes towards the things around us can be and sometimes, that’s the way we understand God – in our own human terms instead of what the Word says about Him.

For many of us, we are bombarded by the countless doubts and questions we have about God – common questions like why He allows suffering, why is He so quiet at times, what did God mean when He said He’d chosen us yet also that we have to make our own decision etc.

Every so often, we slip into our human-centric mode again – we question God based on our own understanding of the world and end up feeling vexed and frustrated at the ambiguity and superficial contradiction…

And when that happens, let’s be reminded that we all need God to help us change our perspectives and humble us by bringing to remembrance that we are like mists that appear for a while then vanish and in contrast, God is God since forever. He’s seen the first age and will see the last…

So if what I’ve seen is only a small little, negligible part of what God has created and seen, how can I try to understand God on my own terms when as a matter of fact, what I understand is only a zillionth of a zillionth’s (of a zillionth of a zillionth… to the power of n, haha) fraction of God’s unlimited wisdom over all the earth?

I’m discovering the futility of trying to understand God based on our own carnal understanding but that doesn’t mean we should stop trying to draw close to God to know Him deeper.

We must not forget that God had sent His Holy Spirit to help transform our minds from one that easily adopts the world’s measures, to having the mind of Christ.

I’m comforted to know and am assured that as we clothe our minds with the mind of Christ, we no longer rely on our own concept of the world to understand God, but on God’s terms…
